2018 XJL

2018 XJL
Last week, I traded my 2013 XJL for a 2018 XJL, and I am enjoying it very much. It only has 14,000 miles on it, so it still looks brand new. I am about a 45 min drive to the dealership, but soon as I can, I’m going there to ask a few questions. In the meantime, I wondered if I could get some feedback on my questions.
From the window sticker and from the information I can find on the Internet about standard features of the 2018’s, the car should be equipped with a garage door opener on the bottom of the rearview mirror. Mine does not have one. I find this quite unusual and hope Jaguar will correct this. Has anyone else had a similar situation?
The 2013 had a 5 L engine, but the 2018 has a 3.0 L. At slower speeds, I hear an annoying whining noise coming from the engine. Is this to be expected because of the difference in the engines?
I was able to update the navigation map, but I am unable to update the vehicle software. No matter how long I wait, the display shows the rotating boxes and the term “checking for updates“ even when I have good 3G reception or when I am connected to my home Wi-Fi. Any suggestions on how to make it work?
I would appreciate any feedback or opinions on these questions. Thanks!

What about the warranty/ Even if it's not a C.P.O., there should be a year or two remaining on the original manufacturer's warranty. Your dealer or service department should be able to print out your vehicle's details. I don't exactly know what it's called, but the header on my list is called "Direct Dealer Warranty - Vehicle Details". It lists everything you'd want to know about your vehicle. Mine is a 2017, and it states that the manufacturer's Standard Factory Warranty expires Apr 29, 2022, and the CPO warranty adds one more year, to Apr 29, 2023.
I learned a lot about our vehicle that we didn't know; since it was a used car, Jaguar Concierge service wasn't available to spend time with us learning about the car.
Good Luck

oakcircle, I agree that you should have the garage door buttons on your rear view mirror. As for the whining that you are talking about, I have a feeling what you are hearing is the supercharger. The supercharger spins all the time and at lower speeds, its noise becomes perceptible. As the speeds pick up, other noises cover it up. As for the update, this is where I would be asking the dealership about that as this would appear to be a problem and should be well within the limits of the factory warrantee.

The update will tell you when it wants to update. The dealer itself has the option to bring infotainment up to date but there is a process that needs to be done. Its a pain and can take multiple hrs. My question is what is the software level on the infotainment as of now. It should be a S20B if its newest software.
