Like you I've started to get similar errors to what you were getting, showing errors on only one bank of the engine:

• P0300
• P0302
• P0304
• P0306
• P0316

I was wondering if you ever got your issues resolved,? and if so, how were they resolved? Did you replace the fuel rail? Did you get Joshy's instructions?

I've got the engine bay open and have moved the coolant overflow tank, and am struggling to get the rubber shroud off to work on the injectors, and want to be sure I'm on the right path.

Hey guys, sorry have not been on JF much lately, life has been hectic. OZguy i got your PM and honestly it does sound like injectors but with no fuel dump its not 100%, can you hook up an OBDII ready and look at fuel trims on a graph (torque app and $10 BT adapter)? im not as familiar with the 4.2 in the 01 XFs as i am the AJ engines. IMO i wouldn't pull this apart until you get some live data to reference. let me know how i can help and i will try my best.

 

Hey @Itismejoshy I'me following your fuel injector guide for the f-type. Very helpful. The fuel rail looks different, so not sure how to remove it, but at least I'll flush out the injectors on the drivers side (P0302, 304 & 306 errors).

I just removed the fuel line pressure, following the guide, and have removed the coils for cylinder 2, 4, and 6 (no space to remove cylinder 8 coil or injector). No idea how to remove the panel right next to cylinder 8 (see my post on the process here), but if i can I'll hopefully free up the fuel rail to get the injectors out, and service them. I have the fuel injector kits, plus the teflon rings and tool, as well as the injector cleaner kit (with pulse function) to clean the injectors.

I'll likely replace the fuel filter as well.

 

No replaceable fuel filter on the X351. It's integrated with the fuel pump in the tank and is not serviced separately. Which is strange and we don't know why.
We did have a guy who removed the fuel pump and was going to cut open the filter section and see if he could replace it. Have not seen or heard from him after that.

Plugs are good to at least 100K miles so if you don't want to change them you should be OK.

@clubairth1 The car is an x250 (2011 XF), suffering a similar problem to the car in this post. I believe the fuel filter is readily accessible after removed the rear seat, and accessing the fuel tank.

I have the rubber shroud off (after surgery), have depressurized the fuel lines, and removed the coils. Need advice getting access to loosen and move the fuel rail, so I can remove the injectors.

This is the post for my specific issues and questions in the X250 section. Thanks for advice on the plugs.

Thanks for that! That is the first time I have seen these listed separately. It has two different part numbers and now the strange thing is all the listings only show it fits up to 2014 model? Nothing changed so I wonder why it would not fit 2015-2019 models? Maybe just an error in the listing? It also says does not fit my 2014 XJR? Other listings for this part number only say 2010-2012?


Here are the two part numbers listed;
C2D25076 and C2Z10550

Jaguar does not list the C2Z10550 part number at all and that's suppose to be the updated part number?
Now the old part number C2D25076 does come up and again it stops at 2015 model year? Plus the Jaguar parts look up all say this does not fit my 2014 XJR either?

@clubairth1 Yes the part numbers are all over the place, especially during model change overs, and some 2011 Jags used the old fuel filters that were install inside the rear wheel wells, so you need to be careful with these transition year cars.

 

@clubairth1 Just saw that you asked if anyone had replaced one. Here's a video I found of a guy changing out his fuel pump:
You need to turn the filter anti clockwise to remove it after removing the wires and connectors on top I believe.

Doing mine in a few weeks after changing fuel plugs, injectors, coils, and changing oil and flushing/changing the coolant, so I'll let you know..

 

Thanks very much ozguy! I appreciate you educating me because I have never found anything in Jaguar publications even indicating that you could change the fuel filter!
It's a very undocumented section of the car and I for sure would like to change the fuel filter. I do note in that video the filter is not even shown on the pump?

I have had the back seat out and know there are 2 access ports underneath. His video shows the passenger side but there is also a drivers side not shown. From this picture it looks like the filter sits on top of the fuel pump so I think the video above just did not show that part?




I found another picture with them connected to help see how it all goes together.



This brings up another puzzle? These cars have a fuel tank that is split by the drive shaft and this requires a jet or transfer pump so the fuel can be pumped to the other side keeping the fuel level even between the two sides as it's consumed. I no longer see a jet pump listed like my old 2005 S Type had? So how does the XJ keep the fuel levels even?

I have several service manuals and just went thru all of them looking for fuel filter information. The only thing listed is always followed by "for diesel engines only". Not a single mention in the fuel pump section about a filter either?

From the above picture it shows a fuel sock also and I would want to change than when I did the filter. I hope this is available separately?

OK, so no pump listed for balancing.

In the very old Jags (series 1 - 3) they had separate tanks with 1 filler each, and a tank switch.

I think the new jags have a "crossover" pipe to equalize the fuel between the two tanks. Read something about it here, but no specific year/model discussed.

 

Yes I have read that thread before and the puzzling thing is I think they are all talking about the Diesel versions because his diagram shows the filter NOT mounted in the tank and it also contains a water sensor. I have only seen these type of sensors on Diesel power cars/trucks. Never on a gas engine?

As they asked in that thread what the heck is items #15??

Hello itismejoshy, I'm having the same problem and same code as Adam. Code P0313, I can see gas coming out of both tailpipes and light white smoke, also I'm getting a misfire code on all my 8 cylinders.

Hi, relatively new owner here. Just going to start another post. Sorry don't know if you have solved this but the symptoms are similar to what I had on a 2012 V8 SC, done 90T km. The problem was worn engine mounts. Because I drive it hard(I have an SLS Roadster that I truly cane) the engine was moving, an air hose was pulled off as a result. I thought it may have been the gearbox which, given I have just replaced the SLS gearbox for about US$25T, I was pretty unhappy about.

My full symptoms were

1. Rough running
2. Jumping out of gear coming up to lights
3. Progressing to engine shutdown on a slow move say 30-40kmph.

But nope 1 worn engine mount did all of it.

My local Jaguar dealer diagnosed it. I was pretty impressed. But they can't get a mount for 4 weeks. I did a bunch of planned work for my first service of the ownership. I see I can buy mounts quicker than them. Are there two mounts(left and right) and are they the same part nos? Is there any better after market option?

 

That is good news and way cheaper than a transmission!!
But consider adding the transmission mount to your repair list. It's a lot easier to change than the motor mounts and won't take long with the car in the air. Have not heard about any improved aftermarket motor mounts? You probably know this but the stock ones are fluid filled as part of the whole NVH stuff so I would not want to put any solid rubber mounts in place of them.

Yes I see that the mounts are the same left and right.

I do see a ton of aftermarket ones for a cheap as $100 a pair on EBay/Amazon but as always those will be a crap shoot from china.
