Default Anyone install a built-in radar/laser yet?

Looking at the K-40 and Escort built-in stuff, 1.4k to 2.4k, installed with front radar/laser and back radar/laser. Both installer says K40, best price/performance, 1 year no-ticket guarrantee and etc. Anyone had any experience with those two products?

I have an Escort 9500 hard wired... It's mounted on the top of my front windshield, to the left of the rear view mirror. The mute/GPS mark location button is to the left of the center console, kind of where your right knee would be. It took the installer two hours to find an accessory wire to tap into and even then, my radar goes on when you open the door, even when the car isn't on, and stays on for 3 minutes...

Well my installer guy says he's done A8 and bunch of highend cars so he knows what's up. Just curious to see what other people have installed on it, 'cause I'm sure I ain't the only one buying 470HP and not gonna use it. Both installers recommend I put the two LED lights somewhere within easy eye view so I can see them, and hide them so it's discreet enough to not attract attention. So I can hit the remote and shut things off as "needed".....Already got a warning last week for going 32 thru a FastLane tool booth, suppose to be doing 15 but no one does 15 thru those things. So I figure a little detector action is needed to keep my cheap insurance rate where it is.

Default Installed Escort 9500ci in combination with M25 front jammers

Hi,
I installed Escort 9500ci AND added M25 front jammers to the already included Escort jammers. (Because of the curved front of the vehicle).
I did it myself as I don't trust most installers. (Sorry, In know there are excellent ones, but also a lot of idiots as I know from experience).
Since I want it installed perfect, with least intrusion into car I decided I'll do it.
Not really that hard if you have a bit experience and a fairly well equipped tool box.
If you need info or pictures, let me know. I LOVE the setup, especially the 9500ci and the GPS feature is a BIG plus.
I have the the SR7 / Z3 combo in my other cars i.e. the CLS. They are good, but the 9500ci is the best I ever had. (And for that price it better be).

Stay away from K40. I recommend you Google around and read all the reviews on the Radar websites. There are some well known (and even a bit crazy obsessed) guys out there doing nothing but playing with this stuff. From what I read, K40 slid back to be the worst performing, while Escort 9500, 9500ci and some expensive Laser Jammers are leading.
And no, I am not getting into the V1 debate. Too many people are simply too much in love with the V1 cult. I am sure they are great, but far too many false alarms for my taste. In my personal opinion the V1 technology is lagging because of lack of continued product development. But, V1 ARE good radar detectors. Just, there are better complete systems out now addressing the Laser / Lidar issue as well.

Gears,
Thanks for the info, I've been doing tons of reading on things on the K40 and most of them are not so hot, but when I talk to the installers they all say it's because it's paid reviews for the Escort stuff. So either both installer gets a better profit on K40 over the even more expensive Escort, or both actually are telling me some truth on it. One installer does work for the super stars like Manny Ramarez, so I'm sure they'd promote the more profitable/expensive one if they could but didn't. Maybe I should go to a few more places and see what they recommend? My buddy has K40 in his CLK55 and swears by it, and he drives like bat out of hell all the time.

Side issue - but near-certain a radar/laser detector won't help with tollbooths. As fixed, narrow-zone-of-interest critters, they'd be better served with any of several other detection/measurement technologies. And/or such short-range and small zone focus that a detector couldn't give you time enough to react.

Actually since last year I've paired up my SC with a Passport 9500 with the Escort Live on iphone combo. Works pretty well these days, initially last year didn't see too many users of the system but now days I see a lot of notifications and markers from other users. Escort just released their new Radar but waiting to see the general reviews on it before moving onto the next version.

Reasons why I love the escortA) had the old SRX w. Shifters in other cars for years and they simply served me well
B) GPS based features work great
C) the laser shifter most of all. These jam lidar laser guns and they give you time to slow down preventing the lidar gun from getting a reading.mthey actually work!
