Default Anyone rebuilt the 5 liter V-8?

Have any of you completed a full disassembly of the Jaguar 5 liter V-8?
My area of interest is the oil maintenance tube; the suction pipe for topside oil changes. Can you tell me if there are any mechanical or electronic parts inside this pipe, as well as its overall shape? I'm wondering if I can use this pipe as a rudimentary dip stick tube. Could I occasionally pass a flexible wire down this tube until it touches the bottom of the oil pan? I could mark the wire at the oil level immediately following an exactly correct oil change as "Full". More importantly, I could periodically check the color of the oil, something Jaguar is apparently unconcerned with.

I seem to remember someone having the same idea for a dipstick but it didn't work out for whatever reason.

As XJ8JR says, no one has figured out a way to use the oil extraction tube as a dip stick, and I suspect no-one ever will as the tube is simply too convoluted with too many bends, see this diagram:

The extraction tube is item #7.

Thanks for the Reply and diagram. It was foolish to think that this hasn't been dismissed previously.

There appears to be a "dipstick tube" available for the 2012 5.0L NA engine(?)
Item 17 on this parts illustration...

Nup, that's just the same oil extraction tube I showed earlier.
Some "dipstick" has incorrectly labelled it Engine Oil Dipstick Tube on the linked page.
Both the NA and SC AJ133 5.0 V8 have the exact same oil extraction tube.
