Default Back in a Jaguar

I am very happy to be driving a Jaguar again! Yesterday I bought a 2013 XJL Portfolio AWD 3.0 with the rear seat package. Although it looks blue in the light, it is actually Satellite Grey. Interior is black with white contrast piping. It's a sporty ride and I have much respect for the supercharged 3.0L six - it is seriously responsive and fast.

I came out of a 2011 Audi A8, a good car but softer sprung and with what seemed like 100 squeaks and rattles. Only an occasional driver's seat squeak from the XJL.

Previous Jaguars were a 1987 XJ6 and a 2006 XJ8, both fine motorcars that were solid and comfortable.

The dealership was kind enough to deliver it on the showroom floor. I look forward to years of ownership and participation on this forum

John

Beautiful car ! I'm surprised about your Audi A8 having a lot of rattles and squeaks, as these cars are normally regarded as very well built. The A8 is constructed of aluminium like your new XJ, but using a different system of tubular frame in which hang the pressed panels. The Jaguar is built like an aircraft fuselage, being riveted and glued together. The glue is actually an aerospace product. Sorry if you already know all this !

The only common issue that has been reported with these XJs is rattling noises from the sunshine roof, but this was sorted out before your car was built. Jaguar have gone away from air suspension on all their new models but yours still has air springs at the rear.

I looked at this XJ model last year, but they were still a bit too expensive for me, so I traded my 2003 116k mile 2003 X350 for a 54k mile 2007 X358 that is basically the same but with restyled front and rear ends.

Thank you, Fraser. The XJL received an interior detail Friday evening and a clay bar/wax treatment yesterday morning. I find the driver's seat to be leagues more comfortable than the A8 and the handling more crisp. The Jaguar's cabin electronics are not as advanced as Audi's, but it's more then sufficient. I am happy with the Jaguar and don't miss the Audi at all

Default Head Turner

Congrats John! I have the same color but in the V8. Just a lovely car. I also have an F-Type which gets people's attention but would you believe the XJL turn's nearly just as many heads? I don't get the thumbs up and people snapping pictures of it on their phones like the F-Type, but I'm still surprised how many people I catch staring. Even the young. One of my kids said a famous rapper (I wouldn't know who) has the same color in one of his video's so perhaps that's why I catch teens staring as well.
Enjoy

Kjamo, my son and I went to a local Thai restaurant last night that has an all-glass front wall. My car was parked about 10 feet away. As we ate, I watched people walk by it and check it out, men and women. Feels good to have that car!
