Default Battery charger question

2015MY Is it ok to hook up a trickle charger on my main battery without disconnecting the cables?
Thanks

I haven't been using the car and getting the low battery warning.

Hi

I have a XJ (2017) and use a CTEK automatic charger and charge the battery while the cables are connected but ensure :

1. The black charger lead is connected to the bodywork ( not the battery ) I use one of the protruding bolt heads

2. The red charging lead to the battery

3. After switching off the mains power disconnect the black charger lead first

I have read that this method of connection will not interfere with the Battery Management System

Tony

I have used ctek charger/conditioners for 10 years now, they really keep the battery in top condition. If you fit the quick connector lead it is a 10 second job to connect it up each time.
As mentioned above the red lead goes to the positive terminal and the black lead goes to a ground bolt near the battery.
