Default Bent Rim Repair

Is it worth trying to repair a bent rim or should I look for another one? The bent part is on the backside of the rim also are the rims on the XJs steel or aluminum?

I have had numerous wheels repaired over the years, and they were always solid.

Absolutely those are aluminum wheels. Steel wheels almost always have a hubcap.

Yes I also have a good luck with wheel repairs. Usually the shop has enough experience to tell if it's worth repairing.

I had a huge " dent" on the inside rim of a 19" mercedes S class alloy wheel repaired, it was pothole damage but did not crack the rim, a local ( used them for many years ) wheel refurb place straightened it and refinished the inside without having to refurb the diamond turned outside face.
I suggest you go to a refurb place and see what they think.I think mine was about £90 or £100 , still much cheaper than a replacment wheel.

They are aluminium wheels.

I inherited a bent rim on my XK from the PO and then another on my F-Pace which had been repaired at the Jaguar Dealership who supplied the (used) vehicle.

XK - before straightening

F-PACE - dealer repair

The XK wheel was straightened and refinished by my local wheel specialist. However, knowing I'm a demanding customer, he did warn me I may not be entirely happy!

The tyre on the XK would lose 1- 2 psi pressure a month whilst the other three remained constant. This annoyed me sufficiently to buy a replacement (Kalimnos) wheel. The wheel on the F-Pace just didn't look right so I also bought a replacement (Razor) wheel.

Depends how particular you are. I just don't like faults on a vehicle.

I got the bent rim repaired I was shown the before and after in the repair shop on the wheel balancing machine but when I got on the highway same vibration like the rim was never repaired very disappointing
Next I will remove the rim in question and replace with an OEM 18" rim I have and I will see if the vibration on the highway is still there I might have more then one bent rim or the rim was not properly repaired

If the rim is still bent, it's very easy to visually see it when they spin the wheel on the balancing machine by hand. That's how the wheel repair people check out wheels that need repair. Did you see them spin it, or you just a before and after balancing readout.

I saw the rim spinning on the machine before and after I could clearly see the rim was bent after I could not tell if it was bent or not
The tech said he can still see a slight bend but I would not notice it when driving he said once a rim is bent you cant fix it %100

I would take that with a grain of salt. It depends on their skill level and desire to do it right. The wheels I have had repair were perfectly round and no visible signs of the previous damage.

But in your case, there may also be an issue with the tire after such a big hit.
