Blind Spot monitor Blocked

Blind Spot blocked
I got this problem at regular intervals and totally random. It has been from day one, I got my JX in Jan 2013 (it is a new 2012). The Jag dealer is telling me that I need to keep the car clean and also that it might be influenced by rain :-), btw my car is cleaned regularly). They cannot find anything wrong with the system.
This is just one of several issues I got with my JX, to the extent I might just trade it as I am getting no suport for my issues by the dealer.

Blind spot
2012 xjl. I have gotten that message a few times. Random. Nothing blocking the sensor. It never lasts for more than a day. Probably had the message 3 times over a year and half. I rarely use the blind spot monitors in the mirrors. But hate it when the yellow message shows on the dash. One time it happened on the way for a service. I mentioned it. The service guy wasn't concerned at all. I don't think he even checked anything out.

From what I've been told, it is a software issue. It appears that frequencies used for specific electronic monitoring devices (red light cameras, etc.) here in the States are conflicting with the programmed blind-spot sensor frequency.
My software engineer friend states it is a simple fix of just changing the frequency used by the sensors - and was something most likely overlooked by Jaguar as to commonly used frequencies to avoid here in the States.
Nothing physically wrong with the sensors, just the software.

Not to revive an old thread, but I have gotten this message a few times. Looking to make sure that I have nothing blocking my sensors. The silly question is, where are the sensors that it uses? Are they simply the bumper sensors or are there other sensors? It is sounding like I have the same problem others have had, but I want to make sure that it isn't something more serious.

I have experienced the same as well as some others. Service has reported the issue to Jaguar but Jaguar has not yet addressed this issue.
I experienced the same thing with a Buick LaCrosse. The only difference is that on the Jag it clears without the shut off and re start of the engine. It is not a big deal to me but it can be annoying when it happens.

It appears that in May, 2013 Jaguar issued a TSB on this blind spot issue, although I was unable to find it on the NHTSA website (safercar.gov). If anyone has a subscription to TOPIX, it should show up there. Here's what I found:
Component Description
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Bulletin Number
SSM-52457
Bulletin Date Month
1305
Summary
JAGUAR: ON SOME VEHICLES, THE MONITOR SYSTEM WOULD INDICATE AN INOPERATIVE BLIND SPOT AND/OR REFLASH MODULE WOULD BE CARRIED OUT WHEN NOT REQUIRED. MODELS XF, X250, XJ, X351. NO MODEL YEARS LISTED. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10052552 )
SOURCE: http://www.ownersite.com/tsbs/tsbs.cfm/2013/Jaguar/XF/
Jaguar dealers should be aware of this and how to fix it.

The sensors are behind the rear bumper cover about a foot in from the rear on each side. I complained about erroring out since I first purchased my XJ in October of 2012 and got the normal run around from Jaguar customer service. They seem to error out from some strong cell tower signals and I have become arare that is is on the same locations nearly every time. Re-flashing never made any difference.

I get this error pretty often but it is usually triggered when I am on the highway driving in the left lane (US) where there is no shoulder but there is a concrete barrier separating the traffic. The constant proximity to the barrier causes the system to think its blocked. I haven't had this issue with other vehicles that have the blind spot monitor so maybe it has something to do with one of the settings.

I’ve figured out that I infrequently see this alarm pop up when I’m dropping off my daughters at school in the morning. Seems to be when I’m next to a school bus or the dispatch office. It goes away as I drive away from there! Definitely seems to be a frequency conflict, as noted earlier. Thanks to all who posted their annoying glitches!
