Block warped
We have a 2010 jag XJ 5.0 overheated due to waterpump, looking for opinions on decking the block. I work in a machine shop so decking a block is no biggie.
I realize that a shim saver would be needed as the block between cyls. is at .004, heads are at .008 warpage.
Blown head gaskets, block is warped between cyls. can it be decked. warpage is at .0045

I'm very interested, one member hare said Jaguar says it can't be done. I was hoping the sleeves would be big enough to at least be cleaned up when it needs it and someone would make an oversize kit so you can at least rebuild a worn out engine. I did have an aluminum intake on another car warp so badly it couldn't be saved. I had to get another one from a junkyard. I would rather save my matching numbers block at all costs.

That may be true these days. When I first moved to the US 20+ years ago, there was a company called JTR (Jags that run) who specialized in fitting GM small block V8s and 3.8 V6 motors to XJs that had died. I suspect OBDII and the increasing computer integration of the drivetrain would make that more difficult these days.

5.0 block warped
I knew about the parts being hard or not available. I did an extensive checking of the internals before committing. brgs, pistons, rings all in perfect order. I feel totally confident on
reusing what I cant get. here's where I'm at.

I was trying to buy a high mileage 2010 XJL from a shop with a bad engine in it a few months ago to do this swap. Emissions would be easy since you would be running a ECM out of new Corvette or Camaro. The biggest issue I saw was trying to understand what all systems would be affected in the body control computer if the engine was no longer in the vehicle (climate, navigation, etc). I have built many racecars and street cars in my life so things like header fabrication is no issue. If you took it to a shop and had it done the price would kill you but if you could pull it off in your garage the cool factor would be through the roof and the power potential would be endless!
