Brakes
Hi All,
Just wanted to report a successful brake job on my 2017 XJL S/C. I replaced the rotors and pads with Brembo rotors and ceramic pads. The fronts were simple and straightforward. My concern was the rear with the EPB in getting it to release, then reset when done. I had the car on jack stands and every time I released the EPB, it would clamp back down when I shut the door of the car. So, I left the door open, then wrestled trying to get the caliper off. I could not get it all the way off! So, I removed the EPB actuator (right name?), exposing the splined set-up. It is plastic and held on with 2 small torx bolts. I then used a number 40 torx to manually loosen the mechanism. The caliper came right off. On reassembly, I tightened it back up finger tight, then put the actuator back on. I felt the splines slide back in and rotated the piece a bit to line up the holes, then put the bolts back in. I put the wheels back on, got the car back on the ground and to my surprise, there was no fault or code about the EPB or TMPS sensors. Job done!
I had the wheels off to have them completely refurbished. This is a 22k mile car that I recently purchased.... the only fault were the corroded alloys from the PO never cleaning off the brake dust! I mean they were so dull due to the finish being completely gone. They look brand new and now they have new brakes tucked behind them. These cars are so beautiful and with the V-8, more than adequate power.

On the 2016 and above the brakes are the same on the F-Type.
You need to put the car in "brake maintenance mode"
Here is a thread on how to replace the rears from over there.

Here is a good video of the entire procedure including the "brake maintenance mode"
Another good video and nice brake fluid procedure:

That's VERY interesting as I have a 2014 XJR and the EPB is never applied automatically that I know of? Which is strange as my last Jaguar a 2005 STR did apply it automatically every time you shifted to Park.
I am going to test it by closing the door but if you open the door does it release the EPB too? I do know that if the EPB is on then putting the car in gear will release it automatically.

Same here. Old X350 would apply the EPB automatically after engine shut-off, new X351 never did, not that I've noticed.
