broken sun visor spring fix
My 2014 XJ sun visor spring broke the visor due to the visor being made out of chicken sh** plastic instead of reenforcing the spring area with metal on the visor side. Makes me worry about the drive train on my 5.0 SC if they skimped on the visor. Called the Jag dealership here in Tampa and they didn't care, 800 USD for a new one. I was able to repair it with a typical binder clip you would use to clip a large stack of papers together. I hope this helps, it was an easy fix and doest look horrible. It feels good when open and closing
one did work, but chose to use two.
new business card holder lol

And WTF with USED?!?!
$800 is the price for a new replacement plus installation costs. Used go for under $200 but for some stupid reason the mechanics first take apart the engine, getting their hands all greasy and then they decide to take apart the sun visors depositing their grease all over them. WTF!?!? Have they not heard of soap?!? Hand Degreaser?!?! it’s not like we can put these in the washing machine!!!!
NOT for Jaguar but THIS is typical quality of used & I’ve looked for months and months!

My new to me XKR has slight visor droop on the passenger side , that’s the right side in the States. I might try some Velcro before the binder clips. But, then again, I can’t get the built in garage door opener to work with my garage door opener. Maybe I can fashion a multifunction clip that will fix the droop and mount a manual garage remote.

Lots of threads on the door opener. You might need a Home Link Bridge kit as I did?
Fairly cheap and usually fixes it.

Are you programming the garage door remote to the car, and then the car to the garage door opener?

Anyhow, regarding the floppy visors. Has anyone ever attempted surgery on one, to see if the innards can be repaired? Anyone have a picture of the inside?

I think I did it that way. I’ll try again, before martini time.
BYW…We have a stucco house, with tile roof, and metal garage door opener. So, just to get the regular hand held remotes to work…was a pita. I installed a remote antenna, and now that works great. I dint want to go back to extremely limited range with a bridge.
I’m not blaming Jag, I’m blaming Chamberlain. Our housing development was built between 2010 and 2015. All got the same Chamberlain openers, and they just dont work with home link.

Found this thread that provides a better & cleaner solution to the floppy visor syndrome, IMHO.
