Just ordered a new one since my current one barely makes a peep when locking unlocking the doors. Where might I find the culprit? Tried searching here with no luck.

 

CptChaos, you will need to open up the hood/bonnet of your car. Now, as you are looking into the engine bay while standing in front of the car, look back towards where your brake booster is (back right corner as you are looking at the car). You will need to remove the cowl at the base of the windshield there to see the horn, but if you look between the body panel and the brake booster, you will see the horn under a bracket there. So, to access you will have to do the following:

-remove atleast the driver's side wiper arm (careful, you will need to also remove the hose that sprays the washer fluid and this can break easily.
-remove press fittings holding the cowl in place and then slide the right side of the cowl out of the way
-look under the bracket (this may remove as some of the brackets are just pressed into place) to find the horn.
-bolts are tightened to 7 N-m

replacement should be nothing more than a few bolts and an electrical plug. Install is the reverse process.

 

Thanks for the help. I was able to lift the cowl enough to squeeze my hands in and do the work without removing the wiper arm. Beep beep!
