It's an easy DIY fix. Here's how to do it. See my 2/28/2017 thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-fixed-177536/

P.S. Don't use any lubricant, as dust will stick to it and will cause the latch to get stuck again. Use a can of compressed air similar to this:

Thanks for the solution. Jaguar service wanted $800 to fix the same thing.

They would not cover it under CPO warranty which really made me mad. Is this really a wear item?

Read your CPO warranty terms snd conditions and exclusions. If you do not have that complete document, ask your dealer to provide you with a complete copy and to cite the specific language that supports his conclusion that this is a normal wear item.

Without reading that CPO warranty, I find it difficult to equate a latch mechanism with a tire, fan belt, brake pad. radiator hose, or other part usually considered to be a normal wear and tear item.

The CPO contract controls, not the service advisor's opinion.

Default Loose spring on latch

After removing the console surround I discovered the spring had detached.

Can someone please explain/show me how it reattaches.

TIA,
Rodney

I should have been more specific when referring to the spring. The spring that goes on the hook/locking mechanism came loose, not the spring on the release push-button.

Really glad to hear that you figured it out, but it may help others here if you either explain what you did or document the procedure so that in the future it may help other owners
