Climate Auto mode not very smart
In my newly acquired 2014 XJL, it seems like the climate control Auto mode does not want to use higher fan speeds. It will never select a fan speed above 3rd position even when the car is clearly quite hot and a fan setting of 6 should be used to obtain rapid cooling. I can of course do that manually, but in my Maserati it will blast the AC to cool the interior in Auto mode as needed.

Sounds like the climate modules are glitchy, it's ironic that Maserati ones work so well since the Quattroportes have so many other gremlins that Jaguars don't have.

OK today it was very hot in the car, and then the climate control did resort to using high fan settings. I guess it is just not as anxious about the temperature inside as my Maserati, because it doesn't use the higher fan unless it is really very hot in the vehicle. It seems like it is not trying very hard to actually reach the set point, it's like well we are only ten degrees above that so it's time to turn down the fan. Also I figured out the the ECO mode was shutting off the seat cooling every time the engine stopped, so that's something important as well. I couldn't figure out why the seat cooling was so much less effective than in the Maserati, and the likely reason is it keeps getting turned off in the traffic whenever the engine shuts off.

Yes those AC seats are not setup like the other cars I have had either? My old Lincoln LS kept the seat settings just like the AC settings. So no turning on the AC seats EVERY single time the car is shut off like my current XJ does. Lucky my SS system no longer works so I don't have to fight that anymore.
