Just a question, out of curiosity: which other vehicles were people considering before deciding on their Jags? I took the 750Li out, but found it to lack soul and it didn't feel...special. Especially with an MSRP of $103k! Simply felt like a bloated, uglier 5-series. My XJL Supercharged definitely feels special with an interior that is bespoke and not far astern of a Bentley. Also, the driving dynamics are what BMW used to have and Jaguar has matured. I might have been interested in the new Audi S8 and can't wait to read the next super luxury car comparison in C&D!

What were you cross-shopping?

We looked at the 750Li, Porsche Panamera S, and the S550. We got rid of our 7 series to get the XJ. A good quote from something that was read before buying the XJ just kind of summed it up, "The Jaguar XJ, for those wondering what the hell happened to the BMW 7 series.", or something to that effect. The car is technically my wife's, and the supercharged feature is mine. Even if there would have been a better choice, which I believe there isn't, after the Royal Wedding...she wasn't going to have any other car.

Love it, great quote! That was my exact sentiment when driving the 7. Thought about the Panamera as well, but need the 5th seating area on occasion and am undecided about the rear design (except for the Turbo...I guess the wheels do make that car have presence). Difficult to justify $200k, though.

It is kind of nice, having a car not driven by everybody else. When I drive into the city, I can barely count the number of 7s and S-Classes I pass.
