Cooling system 3.0 XJL part number
#1
3k miles from home and need Cooling system part number
PLEASE a tell me this is easily available separately and not as a piece of a $200 assembly! 😱😳
Last night I discovered a tiny but very consistent weeping leak from the photographed part. The original WP hose clamp was touching it and rubbed against the plastic creating the weak spot and leak. I’ve been on line with my cell but, unable to locate a specific part number or the tubing assembly. Anyone have a part number and availability for this plastic gray part.? Thanks.
I am seriously thinking of inserting a piece of copper tubing and clamps as a jumper between the hoses. Not sure if the internal orifice is metered though.
2014 XJL 3.0 SC
UPDATE: OFF THE GRID REPAIR. Considering I’m in the woods with no transportation and have nothing but basic hand tools and odd ball materials in my barn, it was time for serious improv... I located a 1/8” thick piece of peel and stick vinyl RV roof patch and cut a 1 1/2 wide strip, same for some old fashioned gooey duct tape and zip ties. I tightly wrapped the part in one thin layer of the roof tape then a second tight wrap of duct tape followed by clamping action of 3 zip ties. After driving the snot of the car for 30 minutes and letting it sit for two hours. Rinse and repeat... No leak! It seems secure. Hopefully it will last until I secure the needed part or if need be, the whole trip back home.

It's part of an assembly and no it's not available separately. BUT the good news is that it is the updated part which has the dead end hose nipple. So this should mean you have had the water pump changed and the cooling pipes changed to the updated versions.
Any work been done?
That worm drive clamp is not stock so maybe some kind of later repair?

Good eye on the clamp; I changed the clamp with one I found in the barn thinking the leak was at the hose clamp. That’s how I discovered the worn nipple piece. Yes, a lot of cooling items (basically all of them) have been repaired/replaced at lease once, some 2-3x. It’s getting old screwing around with this poorly engineered plastic cooling system.
