It's a bummer that I wasn't aware of this discount, since we've been Jaguar owners since 2001. I wonder if there are "retroactive memberships"?

No there are no "retroactive" memberships.

If you can hold off until December, there is supposed to be some very special deals that the dealerships are going to offer on the XJs. New and used. (In the US)

If that were the case, for sure, we could hold off. However, that reminds me of 2011, when we bought the '12 that just got wrecked. Our local dealer had an '11 that we really liked, and he, too, was anticipating some "end of the year deals", so he suggested we hold off, and he'd try to "hide" the car for us. Two things happened.....somebody else didn't realize that he was trying to hold the car for us, and it was sold, and the "deals" didn't happen, anyway.

Right now, I'm facing two hurdles, and I thought I was over the one, but the second just popped up. The first is locating a car that we want, as my local dealer doesn't have a lot of cars on hand. We did, however, locate one within the state. I've noticed that there are literally hundreds of XJs and XJ-Ls in the southeast, but not too many in my area. Yes, a car can be transported in, but it adds cost, and these cars are being sold daily, so overall, the supply is diminishing.

The bigger hurdle I've suddenly come upon, is my wife's reluctance to be in a car. This isn't the first time she's gotten hit, while driving. She's very cautious, even overly cautious at times, and she's never been the guilty party. But this most recent crash has shaken her up, from a mental standpoint. That, as well as the financial expenditure of replacing the car, which we hadn't planned on doing, has brought up a big question mark in her mind, and it bubbled to the top, yesterday.

Having this ordeal drag out like it has, hasn't helped either. It's going on 7 weeks since the crash, and I'm thinking if the car had been declared "totaled" right away, and we could have replaced it quickly, we would have been OK. However, she's had a lot of time to mull it over and over, and over......

After a quick check, I found that it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Jaguar Corporate already has a $3000 "summer cash" offer on the table for the general public, and it won't combine with any other offers. And since $3000 is greater than the $2000 club discount, it's the better way to go.........

Are you sure about that, George? This is directly from the Jaguar website...

"$3,000 customer credit is a credit against the price of subject vehicle negotiated with retailer"

Furthermore, my dealer referred to that amount as a "rebate", and indeed included it in the price we negotiated on the car, before we spoke of how we were going to pay for it.
