Cure for panoramic roof not closing
Here is a reader's post on WSJ article about Supersized Sunroof in today's cars --
"These sizes can be deceptive, as the interior openings can be much smaller than the exterior measurements. Also, while the XJ panoramic roof is large, it only opens partially, and the rear seat portion becomes effectively blocked when do you so. They seemed designed more so for just letting light in. And they are prone to more problems…speaking of the XJ, from time to time it would decide it did not want to shut all the way. The service tech solution…put a plastic water bottle in the opening, then try to shut it and it senses something getting crushed then resets itself (P0S)."
Cheers,
Wolfy

It sounds like the person is talking about the sun shade, not the actual glass. The sun shade has a fault in that it wont shut all the way sometimes. The solution to that is to apply pressure (how much no one knows) to the shade when it tries to shut. It will realize here is a fault and open back up - at that point, it should work just fine...
...unsure about the glass though.
Mine has needed resetting three times. One of those times, the mechanism actually broke when I stopped it and I had to have the shade replaced.

There are instructions for resetting the sunroof and/or windows as needed that doesn't require applying pressure and possibly damaging the blind or sunroof. Following the instructions for the sunroof also resets the sun shade (blind). See page 156 of your manual. I've included the instructions below. This has worked for me in the past.
FYI, 45 seconds seems like an eternity and I suggest using a watch to time it. Otherwise, most people seem to just estimate and not hold it long enough to start the reset procedure. There was a thread on this about a year ago or so.
