Just a thought, but couldn't you atleast make things better by taking the pipe between the turbo and the DPF (and maybe some others) and simply apply an exhaust heat tape to it? This is meant to trap the heat inside the exhaust which would then raise the temp of the DPF, leading to fewer forced regens. It sounds like from what I have read that there is a real mess here. Unfortunately, the repair sounds rather pricy and I am sure that JLR is not wanting to do it. Granted, if they want to keep selling cars with diesels in them, this would be a good way to show people that they stand behind their vehicles. Giving you "unlimited free oil changes" doesn't fix things. Damage is still occurring. If I owned one of these vehicles, I know I would be atleast be putting tape on the exhaust.
It is a shame to hear about this, especially when people inside the company brought up the issue and dollars were put in front of a quality product. It is going to cost them in the end.

I wrote the exhaust heat tape method already some time ago, that it is the way to get heat up in to the DPF in wintertime when the temp can go down to -30C (-22F) here in Finland.
It´s only needed to be done on drivers (left) side, about 50cm on the part what are horisontal, next to the transmission on cool airflow.
Cost is less than 20 bucks, and it will take less than 15 mim of time.
