what is an appropriate amount of miles to drive for the tires to shape themselves out? i recently purchased my XJ that was sitting at the dealership for a little over a year. feeling the same shaking feeling at 50-70mph. before really getting annoyed, i convinced myself it was flat spotting. drove 40 miles, still persists

We have one dealer in Madison, Wisconsin, with a chief mechanic-technician named Patrick with over 25 years experience working on Jaguars. It is a joy to listen to him, when he has the time,
to tell you all the reasons why a Jaguar is so much better than any other car, and to give lessons in the history of Jaguars. Madison finds out quickly what may be wrong
and can take care of anything.
On the other hand, the dealership in Rockford, Illinois, does not have that kind of experience with their mechanics, and often take longer. So,if possible,we prefer one dealership, Madison,
over any other. Jim and Gwynne.

James, not sure if you were responding to a different thread, but a coincidence nonetheless. The master techs at JLR Peoria, particular the service manager Doug F. is a great guy. The family run dealership there I will miss. I used to drive my F-Type over 2 hours there as it was the closest dealer. While I spent my college years in Madison, you will not find me driving to any Fields dealership unless I don't have to. Fortunately for them, the dealer in Waukesha WI is the only one in the area. I miss Peoria.

Jaguar is notorious for having bad factory alignment, I would not be surprised if this is the case here as well. My experience with flat spot is that if they are going to go away, it happens within ~100 miles.
Another point to consider - your car was manufactured, shipped, then sat on the lot for a year. Your engine oil might be 2+ years old at this point. I would not drive with it for another year - change it early.

randomly i decided to check my tire pressure....turns out 3 out of 4 tires were GROSSLY over-inflated by as much as 8-10psi (cold). i adjusted everything and i think that sorted out my shaking issue (i think). i havent had a chance to properly test it at 60+mph where it started getting really bad. i imagine the dealership did that to avoid flat spotting
the car is getting an oil change as i type this. no worries

Dmchao,
Ahh an F type! Good for you! I tried and tried to talk my wife Gwynne into buying one, but she remembers our TR6 and how cold the top was in the winter. Is your F type a convertible,
and if so, how is the winter warmth? We have great friends in Peoria, and they now drive our former 2004 XJ, the Grey Ghost. They too feel the service in your
town is excellent. Nice you were in Madison for school! We think a lot of that town. Jim and Gwynne.
