Hi,
Not sure if anyone has experienced this before but have read a few varied things about it online.
I unlock car using key fob, get in and belt up, press ignition button and get a high pitched double beep noise, no warnings on dash at all.
The possibles so far online are, faulty sensor, door lock/latch problem, gateway module problem.
One of the door handles has always been a bit sticky/stiffer to open than the other three but in the two years ive had it have never had this
double beeping before.
Any ideas..?

 

A double-beep means an error occurred. Are there any DTCs? (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

Was your foot on the brake pedal when you pressed the start button? If so, did it start?

The first thing to check is your battery. A weak battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

Try this - when you get in the car, press the start button before you step on the brake pedal. With the start button depressed, a tap on the brake pedal should start the engine. I know that's the opposite of what the Owner's Handbook says, but it works.

Let us know what happened.

 

Haven't checked for any fault codes as yet, my fault code reader has sadly bit the dust.
Yes i had foot on brake pedal and yes it started first time as usual.
I will be having another look at it later so will try your suggestion and see what happens.

Tried your suggestion of pressing and holding start button down and then the brake pedal.
Still double beeped and also another double beep when turning engine off.
I am going to take it to a friends garage in the morning so he can plug in his diagnostics and see what it shows.

Visit to the local independent Jag specialist, diagnostics indicate a faulty door latch (the sticky/stiffer one).
Bizarrely, while i was there someone else turned up with exactly the same problem.
