I get a double beeping tone at what appears to be random times. Look at the dash and there are no lights indicating an issue. Any thoughts on what could be causing that?
Would a weak key fob battery cause that?
Normally a double beep is saying that something did not lock all the way. I have gotten this pressing the lock button too soon after shutting a door as the car is still registering the door as being open. I would say the next time this happens, first think about if you gave the car time to register the last door (or trunk) closing (only takes a second from the time it is fully closed until it can be locked. If you think you gave it enough time, then set your keyfob off to the side (more than 40 feet away from the car) and then attempt to open each of the doors. Does one of the doors open? If yes, I would start watching this door as it may be that you have a lock actuator that is starting to go and it is not locking, which will also cause the car to double beep (telling you the car is not properly locked).
A diagnostic tool would come in handy about now to isolate the issue. Mine drove me nuts with random double beeping, parked, whist driving, in the middle of the night etc. My scanner revealed the front left door as the culprit. This was backed up by the fact it would immediately double beep when I closed this door and not with others. She's now sitting idle with the battery disconnected whilst I wait on a new lock actuator.
I had the same issue. Took it to the dealer at 59,000 miles. They said it was under warranty. They called to say the passenger door and both rear door lock mechanisms failed (at the exact same day and time?!) and it would be $2,800 to fix; not under warranty.
This does not seem to make sense. a) the back doors work fine b) the front pass. door will lock via driver door lock, door handle and key fob c) the pass door will unlock with door or key fob.
It only will not unlock via the driver door unlock button.
I took the car back and will live with the issue.
I also have a Volvo XC90 with 227,000 miles on it (2005) that has never had an issue locking or unlocking.

TIA for any feedback.
A weak keyfob battery usually causes a message to be displayed on the dashboard at startup, which can be manually turned off. It will continue to be displayed until a new CR2032 fob battery is fitted.
Yes you an DIY them and there's a few threads on the subject if you search. Good set of torx drivers and trim removal tools, plus some nimble fingers and it's doable at home.
LOL!! Sorry about the delayed feedback: it was the door/s. Any one of them. I checked all were closed, including the trunk, and check all are closed, drivers side mainly, before driving off and have not had a double-beep for a few months now!
When I look that scanner model number up it indicates its for a BMW.
They're wrong... obviously lol.
