Drink Drivers...
... so i had an idiot drink driver hit the back of my MY2014 XJ last weekend and after being messed around by his insurance company (thankfully he had some), i have taken it upon myself to get a quote from my local jaguar dealership for repairs, after looking at the car tonight, they estimate it will be circa £20k and 2-3 weeks to repair... Why don't these idiots not take a taxi home instead of drink driving...

I had a girl run up the rear of mine about a year ago, she only hit me at maybe 30mph but it needed a whole new boot ( trunk ) floor due to the fact they cannot weld the aluminium and the floor is structural.
The repair job was done really well and I did have an XF for a loan car but as it was being repaired over Christmas they had the car for 7 weeks arghhh, frustrating.
They seemed to keep making excuses and I cant believe that the insurance company did not hurry them up, I hate to think what the loan car would have cost for 7 weeks hire !

I've had a similar experience after a low speed rear-end shunt. The entire boot floor and rear suspension mounts were replaced. Mine sadly took 6 months to repair because the bodyshop where out of the special alloy welding wire they needed for the mounts and Jaguar only ordered enough for each bodyshop to get one spool at model launch. It is a very labour intensive repair too.
It does seem that the raised rear on the X351 makes it more likely that a shunt will go under the car rather than be absorbed by the bumper.
If any or the wiring was hurt in your crash be sure to check everything before accepting the repairs. I had problems with the puddle lamps and the LED boot trim piece not working on mine initially.

sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you weren't injured but you're right the insurance company does not make it easy for you. My wife's 2011 Buick Enclave was totaled in July but what she had to go thru with the other driver's insurance company was a pain in the butt; and it was the other driver's fault--went thru a stop sign and hit the wife's car.
