Default ECHO Engine automatic start/stop

I got my first Jaguar few days ago, it has the engine start/stop feature but it did not turn off a single time since I acquired the car. The car is a 2014 model XJ-R.

I am wondering if there is somewhere a setup that I could not find or if there is a problem with the car. I read that one of the conditions for it to operate is the battery charge status, is there a way to find out if the secondary battery is charged or charging? Any other thoughts?

Today, four days since getting the car, the engine turned itself off for the first time. I can only guess that the secondary battery wasn't charged.

I finally understood how it is working. I can stop the car gracefully without pressing the brake hard and prevent the enginee to stop. If after stopping I press the break a bit harder I can cause the enginee to turn off until the brake is released.

I am wondering if this is normal or if the is an issue with the car. I am waiting to receive the handbook to study it before reaching out the dealer (for clarification, I bought this new car and the dealer forgot to provide the user manual. They shipped the manual but I did not yet receive it)

Brake peddle pressure is the secret to manually control stop/start. I have been using the technique since I got my 2013 in October of 2012.

Question:- Can one override this stop / start crap? We are about to get a 2014 XJL and I really do Not like this feature . . .

Locate the small battery that supplies it and disconnect it. Tape up the connections to be on the safe side and then forget about it.

You can turn off the feature, there is a panel button to turn it off. But you have to turn it off every time the car is turned on. If you put the suspension in dynamic mode the ECHO feature is automatically turned off.

I recently had a 2014 XF loaner with start/stop last time my car was in for service and actually found it kind of neat. The first time the engine cut out was as I stopped to pull into traffic from the dealership. It took me a second to realize what was happening, but after that, I could anticipate it and also noticed its sensitivity to how I braked. I only had my loaner for a day so the novelty factor was high and didn't disappear. Re-starts were instantaneous. I wonder if a winter would change that a bit?

I finally got the car back to the dealer for them to investigate why in some instances the start/stop would work and others it wouldn't (I had already compensated for the various items that can prevent it from operating). The dealer figured it out, the feaure is now working consistently.

The dealer can permanently disable the ECO feature, at your request. Personally, it was a pain for me to use.

Default ECO light on 2014 Jag XJ

The ECO feature is bad but it can be turned off. What's worse is a yellow warning light on the dash when the feature is off. That is a warning light that you cannot get rid of and that is so annoying. I had to put electrical tape on my new dash to cover it up. How ridiculous is that? On a Mercedes S550 the light (green) is on when the feature is on and the light goes off when the feature is off. And the light is between the seats on the floor console. Jag has to give you the option to turn off the feature and turn off the annoying yellow light. Other than this annoying light, the car is great! Help Jag factory!!!!!!!!

I just picked up a 2014 XJL V6 last week, and I can tell you that you are unequivocally incorrect with respect to this model. I see that you have an XJ-R V8 and perhaps that is the difference.
