Electrical niggles - connected?
Hi all,
My 2012 XJ 3.0D Portfolio threw up a couple of niggles this morning and I wondered if they were connected and any obvious things to check.
It was -5 degrees centigrade when I got in it this morning (South Yorkshire) so I waited a few minutes for the windscreen to defrost before setting off.
Once driving I opened my drivers window which was fine (to remove some of the ice) so I tried to open the front passenger window which didn't move so I presumed it was a bit frozen and didn't try it any more.
This lunchtime (no longer frozen), I tried the passenger window again but it still doesn't work and then I took a colleague for a lift and thought I would show them the massage front seats. This didn't work either. In fact the start button was not bold like it normally is, as if it had been disabled.
Both functions worked yesterday. Any thoughts or connection?
Michael

mmarksx19, looking at the diagrams for the car, there isn't much that is common that I can see other that the MS CAN bus network.. The front passenger window is powered from fuse F30 and the front passenger seat has power from fuses F21/F29/F33. Granted, if any of the seat fuses were bad, you would have lost the heat to the driver's seat too as they share a common module. This brings me back to the MS CAN bus.
Like someone else said, disconnect the battery and see what happens. Worst case, you get to reset the controls for the sunroof and windows (auto movement) and you have to reprogram your e-brake (very quick if you have the e-brake set before you pull the battery cables).
