Engine ticking after turn off
Hi all,
I have had my xj 2011 3.0d for about 3 months now and every time I get out of the car the engine ticks, the kind of ticking like its cooling down.
Now this isn't something that I have heard any car do to this degree. Is it normal to initially sound like a hot pan dumped in water (bit of an extreme example)?

Its not the normal 'ticking cool'.
Sound like water hitting hot metal turning into steam.
Are you driving the car long enough for the exhaust system
to completely heat up?
If not fully heated, it sweats. This is what you maybe hearing.
Also, if not fully heated day after day the moisture will start eating
at the exhaust system -rotting away.
This happen to me on Custom Van, only driving 2 miles in the morning
for months.
