Default Exhaust tips

If I want to change the exhaust tips on my 3.0ltr diesel to the twin pipes like the XJR
1: will it restrict the flow in anyway?
2: am I correct in thinking the exsisting tips just unbolt off?

Yes, your current tips will unbolt easily, the problem is that the XJR tips won't fit on your Diesel mufflers. You have to get creative with a welder or buy the XJR Mufflers.

Or find aftermarket quad tips that will fit.

I’ve found some on eBay which are cheap.
do you think it will restrict flow or not cause a problem?

dragonalfa, odds are, the volume of the tips is going to be much more than that of the exiting pipe of the muffler. So, the tips should offer no restriction to the exiting gases.

The only "negative" that I could possibly think of is that having a single exit on the tail pipe will make for a longer exhaust pipe and potentially help with the suction that the exhaust system creates via the exhaust pulses. But, we are talking a few inches of piping on a 100+ inch long pipe. So, any negative effects will be very minimal, especially once you take into consideration the changes made by the joining of the exhaust pipes and the baffling of the mufflers. Yes, I think things way too far out and into probably more detail than is needed.

I think it's doubtful that any tips that are the same diameter as the tailpipe will affect the flow to any noticeable degree. The only problems are the fit and if they must be welded on, instead of bolted on. I don't recommend cutting the existing tail pipe to make the tips fit, since you might want to reinstall the stock tips.

Are you sure they will fit? You need to remove one of your existing exhaust tips (it is bolted on and is easy to remove and reinstall) and measure the length, width, and height as well as the diameter of the tip where it bolts onto the tailpipe. Then you have to get the dimensions of the tips on eBay and determine if they will fit. Most "universal fit" tips will be too long or too wide to fit properly in the bumper cut-out.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys

I think it’s looking like a difficult find, the ebay ones were 270mm so clearly to long.
maybe I’ll go down the route of buying the original ones but £300 seems a lot for 2 exhaust tips.

Speaking of the quad tips on the XJR?

On my 2014 XJR the inner outlets on both sides seems to have a slight gold color to it. I am sure it's suppose to be chrome.

Anybody seen this?
I have not tried to remove it yet and my try Never-Dull.

Cheers Paul for the quads
A real pain to get the exsisting jaguar tail pipes off but worth it in the end.
