I dropped off my car this a.m. for the "fix". I just received my first update call from the tech associate. She said the tech did hear the cracking in the back moon roof area but he said there was a noise coming from the front right A pillar that was driving him crazy! I've never heard it. So this may be a good sign. He's doing a good job. She said their are certain steps Jag requires the techs to go through. Very vague. I asked her about the new kit and she said not yet. He's still going through the "steps". I figure the car sat there most of the day and probably only got the test drive. She said she would give me another update tomorrow. I'll give you an update tomorrow.
The computer on the 2010 XF they loaned me is faster than the XJ. It's a completely different software pkg. Ours looks nicer but the XF seems quicker especially the rear view camera. It may be that it's a simpler program and doesn't use as much memory....

Day two: received call at 4:30 that tech had taken final test drive and the "noises" were gone! I asked her to go a little more in depth and she said there's a six step process they have to go through. I said does that include the latest greatest "kit". She said it was the absolute latest TSB's. One of her reasons for the crackle doodle doo is that Jaguar made the car to rigid. Well who knows if I got the "fix all" repair but we'll see.

Just picked up the car and the cracking is gone. Here's what they putonghua the invoice:
"Performed SSM45412. Repairs performed were remove and discard all four cassette mounting nuts and center studs in holes. Also retighten the track to casting T15 torx head screws to 3.5NM, and break off rear glass alignment pegs."
Does anyone know if this is the latest greatest or the old fix that just seems to be temporary?????
