Fitting air cone filters

Fitting air cone filters
Hello guys, I just purchased a XJ supersport 2012. I would like to get rid of air boxes and fit cone filters instead. Does anyone have any information on what type of cone filters to fit, how easy the mod is, what can be gained and mainly - is it worth doing? Heard that you can gain superchrger wine by fitting cone filters. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Your OEM filters are capable to pass well over more air than your engine can breathe at its max RPM. Your vehicle is supercharged, right? The charger will keep the inlet manifold pressure at positive side even in max RPM, so as long as your OEM filters are clean, you are good. Use the saved money for petrol and enjoy.

I bought the Mina Gallery cold air kit with cone filters for my XJR. I took the crappy sheet metal "air boxes" the kit came with kit that didn't fit well at all and took extensive modification to make work decently. I am currently recreating the cheap metal cold air boxes with carbon fiber sheet to get away from that cheap, Ebay CAI look and get something more factory and quality looking. I was also able to get the factory ram air tubes to connect to the cold air box plates so the cones are still being fed cooler air from the front of the radiator. You get a LOT of super charger noise, which is what I wanted, for the trade off of much hire air intake temperatures. Adding the factory ram air tubes to the cold air boxes dropped the air intake temperatures to within about 5-10 degrees of the factory air box. I'm still working on the carbon fiber boxes but I will post pictures when I hopefully complete them this weekend.

For a V6 F-Type but the exact same procedure is used for the AJ133 V8 if it has a symposer fitted (most do) regardless of model, just a little more difficult to get at the hose/pipe/bolt in question.
This procedure is simply to defeat/disable the symposer not to remove it, removal is much more complicated and difficult.
The symposer is purely a mechanical contraption which pumps intake noise into the cabin, see attachment.
Many don't like this noise (I am one) as it muddies the intake/engine/exhaust sounds.

What will removing the symposer gain the OP? Seems like he wants more noise, and disconnecting it will make less noise, right?
I blocked it off at the intake manifold on our Range Rover Sport because hose 11 developed a leak and cause misfiring from a lean condition. The RRS seems quieter at higher RPMs as a result, which is fine with us. And I will block it off before it causes a problem on my XJL, but after it's no longer under factory warranty.

The biggest problem I have with the Symposer is not the noise so much as how awkward the sounds are?
It seemed kind of out of place on the car? Odd noises at odd times?
When I did the tune and pulley this apparently changed some things and then the Symposer got even worse. I love a good V-8 sound and even stock my XJR sounds just great. The Symposer is too weird sounding and I did not even know the car had such a thing until I read it on the forum.
Plus it's not permanent and you can go back and forth to decide if you like it or not. Mine is gone for good. Just plugged at the moment but when the SC comes off to replace the snout I am tempted to remove all that loutusesprite shows above. Leave the trumpet on the firewall with a cap and just remove all the rest.
Here is my thread about removing it on my 2014 XJR.
