All, I have been fighting a very rough running engine with a P0087 code. This all started when the water pump was replaced (how a water pump replacement lead to this, not 100% sure, but it is what I have, shop induced problem). I started with what I was hoping would be the easy fix and replaced the fuel pressure sensor. Ordered the part from RockAuto and got Bosch 0261545047. When I pulled the pressure sensor from the car, I did the idiot check and compared numbers. The factory one is Bosch 0261545048. The last number is different. Everything else that I can tell is identical (shape, size, plug, etc). Looking online, I cannot even find a listing or reference to the Bosch 0261545048 sensor. So, my question comes down to: Are these two things the same part? Normally when there is a different digit, there is some minor change that has been made. Hoping someone has some reference that can explain the difference. I don't want to be chasing a problem when the problem is "self induced" by installing a wrong part. Granted, I do have the old sensor that may be good (not sure how to prove good or bad at this point, haven't seen a listing for what the sensor should read resistance wise). The sensor looks fine.
So, any helpful info, let me know. May have to do a little playing and see if I can get this info for us if I can prove the sensor is good. By the way, because the new sensor is not making a big difference, I am on to replacing the high pressure fuel pumps since that is the other "likely suspect" for this issue.
