Fuel pump shuts off as if tank was full
Hello, I have a Jaguar XJ (X351) 2014 V6 diesel. I recently had the fuel sensor (floater) replaced and after that, when I refuel, the pump stops after a few seconds and I need to only allow a trickle of fuel for it not to stop.
Having looked at how service station fuel pumps work, this means that fuel is running back to the pump, and not running into the tank fast enough.
The mechanic says it's not because of anything he did and it's a separate problem.
Would he have had to disconnect the filling "neck" to replace the fuel level sensor and possibly fitted it back in such a way that it became restricted? Or is there a vent valve somewhere that lets air out while you're refueling that could be obstructed (don't know if such thing exists)
