Default Fuel System Cleaner Recommendation

I wanted to use BG 44K but it's not for sale here in Canada and very expensive there are alot of other ones on Amazon
I am wondering which I should use are these fuel system cleaners all pretty much the same?
Does the Jaguar require certain type? or any of the popular ones will do? Red Line , Liqui Moly , STP , Royal Purple

JaguarXJL15, I have a recommendation and you can take this for what it is worth. If you find yourself using the same brand of gasoline all the time, switch brands for a tank or two. What I mean by this is if you always fill up the car using say "Shell". For a tank or two, find say a "BP" or "Wawa" stations and fill up there. This is the concept, each brand has "their blend of additives that provide 'great' cleaning". Yes, each of them do a pretty good job, but each one does not get 100% of the contaminants. But, because they each use different additives, by switching, what is missed by Brand A, should be gotten by Brand B. Sure, maybe that other station is a bit more expensive per gallon, but you were looking at spending how much on a fuel treatment?

Along the same lines, if you do use a detergent specific treatment that you have to add in separate from the gas, look and see who makes it. For example, if you always fill your car up at Chevron, getting a Techron cleaner is going to be a complete waste of money as the Chevron fuel already has the Techron detergents added into it. So, see what is available, see who makes it, and then make sure that is not who you normally buy gas from.

For me, I tend to fill up my car at a brand called "Wawa". But, when on travel (which is normally every 6 months or so), I make sure to fill the car up with either Shell or Sunoco. Shortly into the tank of the new fuel, I can feel a change. I can also see a slight up tick in the mileage.

I think I will use this one claims to do a lot
  • Cleans and lubricates the entire fuel system including injectors, fuel pumps, valve seats, compression rings, combustion chamber, carburetors, and upper cylinder walls
  • Solves low sulfur diesel fuel problems
  • Increases fuel mileage and performance
  • Fuel burns more efficiently – greater MPGs and fewer emissions
  • Increases the life of pumps, values, rings and injectors
  • Use at every fill-up to maintain peak engine performance
  • A great tune-up in a bottle

Diesel takes 77 litres, where 7 litres are held as spare and will run these only with limited power. (according manual, never dear to test) Not sure if the gasoline models have physically same tank?

I found out that after 3rd fill up the idle has softened out and diesel sound are smoothened as far it ever can...
After about half year the slight idle vibrations and noise have sharpened again. My theory are that fuel leave something (parafin used on diesel?) to the injectors, what are washed away by cleaner. I use it in autum and spring, because not sure how it perform in low minus temp. Dont want to get stranded if it blocks the fuel filter in minus temp. (artic diesel fuel are sold in winter months)

In the past, Jaguar has recommended Wynn's Fuel System Cleanser, and BMW recommends Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner. These two products are distinguished from others by the inclusion of polyether amines (Techron) or polyisobutylene amines (Wynn's).

Most fuel injector cleaners, including BG 44K, are just blends of solvents from the paint-thinner family, with the exception of Lucas, which is oil based. Wynn's and Techron are the only ones that contain amines, and it is telling that they are recommended by major automakers. In fact, BMW issued a Technical Service Bulletin that states that BMW engineers tested Techron and found it to be effective and safe when used as directed and discloses that Chevron Techron is packaged in BMW-branded bottles for dealerships.

I use Techron Concentrate Plus in the 20 ounce size because that's what BMW recommends, and Techron is easier to find than Wynn's in the U.S., but in other regions the opposite may be true.

I also use Techron in its undiluted form to clean fuel injectors in my homemade cleaning apparatus, which forces the Techron through the injector under pressure. I can testify from personal experience that Techron concentrate will open up a clogged injector and restore its proper atomization. Obviously, the effect will be slower and far less dramatic when the Techron is diluted in fuel, but follow the instructions on the bottle to run your fuel level almost to empty before adding Techron, then add fuel as directed.

Yes I use Techron because of the high PEA content.
