Default hard down shift or brake grab

For awhile now when I am braking coming to a stop light or stop sign at the very end of the stop the car has a hard either downshift or brake catchinng. Told dealer twice, once they said they could not duplicate, second time they said they reset computer. It did not do anything. Seems to be getting worse and more annoying to myself and passengers. Anyone experience this?

Are you driving in Sport mode? Down shifting and harder brakes are accentuated in that mode compared to Drive mode. It's even more pronuonced in Sport than Dynamic mode.

Driving in normal mode. I am aware of what you are saying and yes it is almost like you are in sport mode and do a down shift but I am in regular mode and it does it.

Default noticed yesterday too

I was driving my wife's XJ yesterday and I noticed the same thing. If I feathered the brakes in an attempt to make a smooth stop, the car seemed to come to an abrupt stop. I paid closer attention after that and could feel the car downshifting as I came to a stop. If I didn't allow for the last downshift before coming to a complete stop, it was VERY abrupt. I rarely get to drive her car and wonder if the computer has grown accustomed to her style of accelerating and stopping.....and my style just doesn't jive. I was trying to drive very nicely and she tends to have a more "sporting" style.

Yup, that is what I have. Dealer reset computer once really didn't do much. Waiting for something else to need to go back to dealer and will ask them to fix again.
Very surprised others haven't piped in with same problem, although mine didn't start till I hit 30,000 miles

I have noticed : If I am braking, for any reason, and the car feels it not strong enough, it will apply more brake.
Also, if a car cuts in front of me, my car will apply the brakes strongly and down shift. It is abrupt. This could happen for other reasons.

I have the 2011 XJ SuperSports. The brakes, steering, and acceleration are the most senitive of any car I have ever driven and takes a while of getting use too.

The Jag itself make me senitive. I did notice every little thing, when I first was driving it, more then any other car. It is getting better with time (A year this Month)

That sounds like your adaptive cruise control kicking in. Do you keep it on all the time?

Seems like this was a common issue for the X350. Didn't the 2011 and 2012 X351s use the same ZF transmission?

Read up on the "Lurch".

Have you seen the website? Look for it and there are descriptions of the several variations of the Lurch. What's happening is the transmission is down shifting as you come to a stop but the line pressure is too high so you get a rough abrupt shift.

Most people can get rid of it or nearly get rid of it with a TCM reflash. Do you know if your tranny has had this done?

Hard to tell because you have no car details and I am guessing from thousands of miles away?
