Has anyone changed supercharger oil on the x351?

Normally, if it's not broken, don't fix it. However this is a known TSB that will eventually require replacement. I'm sure someone will chime in discounting this statement, but I don't think it's common to need to do the supercharger isolator twice. So if you haven't had it done and are removing the supercharger anyway. I personally would do it. The labor for the isolator job is 14 hours according to the TSB, mostly for removing the supercharger. The repair kit can be found from jaguar for ~$650 last I saw (at reno parts or carlsbad parts). I don't know about sourcing from 3rd party retailers on this part yet. I will be looking into this soon as well. See the attached TSB for part numbers and more info.
I can hear my isolator starting to fail. It makes the sound of a small marble bouncing around while in idle (have to listen with the hood open, cant hear it when I'm in the car). When I use a mechanic stethoscope and touch it to the supercharger, it is clear that is where the sound is coming from.

So I might as well repair the snout as well. I couldn’t find a whole kit (I know I am incompetent, despite having the parts catalogue in habd) rather I could only find a single isolator for sale.

Is this the isolator we are talking about?
And when we remove the supercharger, it would leave the valley pan hoses exposed, do you think it’s a good idea to replace them as well as preventive measure? Since this is the only time you could reach those plastic hoses. However I am unable to find the part numbers for those hoses?

I would highly recommend changing the plastic connectors/ hoses beneath the supercharger. This is one of the most common hoses to fail. Unfortunately I haven’t done my parts search yet either, so don’t personally have the part numbers for that. Someone else has surely had the hose replaced and should be able to give you the part numbers.

EmmanuelTam The front snout of the supercharger has two grease filled bearings that overtime wear out, that is when you rebuild the snout. The isolator that is on the link is the same solid type that i purchased from Ebay The plastic connector goes between the water pump and the oil cooler the pump has to come off to replace the platic peace. There is an rubber coolant hose that runs under the supercharger to the throttle body it is clipped to the supercharger bottom.

Yes you can replace the bearings, or replace the snout .There is no oil in the front snout oil is in the back stage to lub the gears and rear bearings The supercharger has a set of bearings in the front of the body they are all so greased There are two bearings in the snout four bearing in the body. You can buy a rebuilt snout with a smaller pulley from Ebay. All so bearings, oil, pulley, isolation coupling water pump plastic coupler hose that goes between water pump and oil cooler with 2 rubber seals, intake manifold gaskets. supercharger gasket. And i saw the snout on Alibaba.

To be honest, I’m not sure if you can just replace the isolator, or if you need the whole kit. The TSB uses a kit that is more than the isolator alone, leading me to believe that more than the isolator is needed. But I’m not sure. If you are in the U.K., I would call powerhouse directly, give them your VIN and they should be able to clarify this and set you up for cheaper than Jaguar. I see them on eBay in the US shipping the full rebuilt snout for ~$160 from England. I hear the solid isolator is a little less dampening than the spring-based one, but unlikely to break again. If you do call them, please report back with what they say. I’m thinking of using them too.

I have emailed powerhouse, look forward to their reply. The trouble is I am in Hong Kong, and Jaguar is not popular here at all, let alone specialist indies.
I have looked at the parts catalogue:
Do you think those two hoses are in this pic? And which two would be? Looks like 12 and 13 to me.

Yes I have looked at the powerhouse webpage, it looks like their snout rebuild would include replacement of those 2 bearings. But I fail to understand if they would replace the plastic spring isolator.

No, lots of XKR, XFR and F-Type owners have replaced just the coupler/isolator (and sometimes the bearings as well) with zero problems.

When you remove the supercharger. Remove the snout you can check the bearings by rotating the pulley, if you hear bearing noise then you will have to replace theme. People change the snout because they have high mileage, or can not replace the bearings them self .Also the labour cost can be high to press the new bearings. I had 87 k on my XJ and i just changed the coupling and oil.To replace the coupling you need to buy 2 manifold gaskets 1 supercharger gasket 1 tube of silicon 1 coupling 5.1 oz oil. If you remove the throttle body Jag recommends to replace the gasket. I just used some silicone on the gasket The plastic hose that goes between the water pump and oil cooler is part # C2Z18658 comes with 1 seal you need 2 seals part # AJ811539.

I have contacted Powerhouse in the UK and this is what they could offer: (copy and paste)
Snout bearing rebuild kit inc. Oil + Uprated Solid coupler
Snout rebuild Service Inc. Oil + Coupler (We can supply a full rebuilt snout from stock with a deposit refundable on return of your snout. Return must be in useable condition after a rebuild)
Uprated 7.5% reduced supercharger pulley (If you opted for our rebuild service we would fit the pulley with no installation charge, you would likely need to remap the ECU to get the most out of this pulley)
Also please be aware we are regularly seeing the main case bearing wear on these blowers. This is the bearing that sits behind the drive hub with the three pins in the main case, you can tell if this is worn by simply lifting the end of that shaft. If it has a significant knock then it is worn, these should have a mild dull knock from the clearance only.
So apparently they have both bearings and uprated solid plastic isolator to offer, now it’s a matter of whether I could remove the supercharger from the engine by myself.

so it is not necessary to purchase the genuine Jaguar supercharger rebuild kit C2D38553 at all since I could reuse the snout body and just replace the bearings. Only the bearings and isolator aren’t sold separately by Jaguar, and needed to source from like Powerhouse or other ebay sellers?

Hi, is this the Sound of the isolators starting to fail???? Listen to the clacking noise when the engine is turned off
https://youtu.be/rZ_14nwPgQw
My 2014 Jaguar XJL only has 33k miles. Will this ruin the engine when it fails?

The jury is out on whether it will cause much if any damage in the long run, some say it will but I have never read or heard of a definite case of this on either the AJ126 V6 or AJ133 V8.
I had the same noise on my F-Type, as well as the classic "marbles in a tin can" rattle, and I had the coupler / isolator replaced under warranty about two years ago.
The rattle never really went away completely, it's still there but not as loud/bad as before, but the clunk/clank was banished.
