Default Headlight bulbs and Fog light question

Hi. I searched but dint get the right answer
1. 2013- XJL adaptive - Anyone know our color temp on the headlights? are they 4800K?
2. if its not 5000K or above, any advice on what I can do to get a different bulb? any manufacturer anyone did this project before? I think they are D3s bulbs?
3. if i do change it I have to also change cornering lamps bulbs to match the temp right?
4. I have the fog light switch and when i press it shows up in the LCD screen but I have no idea what really turns on..the headlight looks the same outside.. any one have an idea?

thanks in advance

The switch is for the rear fog lights.

ramandanu, doing a little bit of research, our headlight bulbs are part number C2D5254. This relates to an Osram 66340 bulb (D3S bulb) which is rated at 4300K at 35W and 3200 lumen. Some vehicles may have the Osram 66340HBI bulbs which are the same style bulbs, but are rated at 4650K (slightly more white than the non-HBI bulbs).

If you do a search for "D3s bulbs" on say e-bay, you can find just about any color bulb that you would want. As for matching up the corner lights, that is easier said than done as those are LED and unfortunately, finding a specific temp in LEDs is hard to do. Most LED bulbs are going to be in the 6500K to 7000K range unless you find some "daylight" LEDs, but those are going to have a very different color (almost a brown/orangish color) than what you will ever find in an HID. I think if you go with say a 6000K D3s bulb, you will find that it will be really close to the corner lighting.

Here are some examples:

Pair - 6000K D3S D3R D3C HID Xenon Bulbs Replace Factory HID Headlights

2X 6000K White Bulbs HID Xenon D3S Direct Replacement for Philips OSRAM 01223 | eBay

2pcs 12V 35W HID Xenon D3S D3C Bulbs Lamps Head Light 4300K 6000K 8000K 10000K | eBay (this one you can see what your options are in the way of color, granted, find a good color chart relating to HID bulbs so you know what color you may be getting if you step away from the 6000K bulb)

Found this, not sure if you want to be the first to get something like this, but it might give you another option as it will be the closest thing to the LEDs that you can find.

Thanks Thermo. I think I will do this mod, I really like the white look.
That LED bulb you have below looks good, I will check it. Will post pictures once done. I will also check if there are more manufacturers (maybe a bit more reputable)

Roonie. Thank you for the fog light answer. I dint think of it at all .

I thought this was standard equipment fitment since initial release. My car is a 2011 and has rear fogs.

Likewise, my 2011 XJL has the rear "fog" lights which increase the intensity of the rear lights to hopefully help avoid being "rear-ended" in a fog.

If you get annoyed with cars following too closely behind your car, try switching on your rear "fog lamps" simultaneously with touching your brakes. It may help wake up the person following you too closely.

To be clear. These rear fog lights are separate and distinct from the rear brake lights. And to John's point, they are indeed very intense and remain at the same intensity while on; regardless of braking or speed. They remain on until you turn them off via the dash control, or, you shut down the car.

Many European cars come with them; sometimes as only a single bulb on one side of the rear. In the case of the XJ351 however, there are two.

Wow, learn something new everyday. Can someone show me a pic as to where these lights are located, and where is this fog light switch? Thank you all!

PS: I looked at the Owners manual and don't see any reference to the fog lights in the Exterior Lights section. Hmm!

The dash switch is the lower-half of the trunk release switch. The fog lamps are the small red circular shapes below the reverse lights in the pic.

My owners manual makes mention of rear fog lamp indicators in the warning lamp section (~page 59? in mine). I don't see any other reference to them either.

Does anyone know how easy is this to install? Are the bulbs early swapped out? Can it be accessed used without removing the whole headlight assembly?
