Astarotte, lets first start with what year and model car you have. Next we are going to need to know what options the headlights have (are they HID, auto on/off, adaptive headlights, etc). This will help us know what the wiring for your headlights is like so we can look at the diagrams and see if we can figure out the most likely cause.
Based on what you are saying and taking a guess as to what vehicle you have, I would be venturing to guess your headlight switch has an issue because it got hit as someone was entering/exiting the car. But, this is just a guess.
