how to compare features of XJs in different years
I'm thinking that I'd like to trade-up several years to a newer XJ and can't seem to find a simple way to compare the features of the newer XJs to my 2013. I think I'd like to put myself into a 2016, 2017 or a 2018. My 2013 is out of warranty (CPO) and what was quoted to me to extend was outrageously expensive. I'm not having trouble with it, as of this moment, and it has 65,000 miles on it, and still gets all of the positive comments about it, that it deserves.
I've done some comparison by pulling up, what appears to be the original descriptive info of the cars by its year, but I'm going cross-eyed trying to make the comparisons. I was hoping for a source or lead that would tell me just the new differences without repeating what existed in the previous years; something like "What's New This Year", but -- no luck!
Any ideas?

You're absolutely correct about the transmission. I remember when looking around, there were more pre-2013s available, but very few (actually only one) 2013s. It was the 8 speed transmission that got me sold on that one. Wonderful transmission and great for gas mileage. When my wife drives it on a motor trip, she easily can average 32 mpg.
But, yes, I've gotten to like some of the newer technologies, since my wife's 2019 F-PACE "S" has a lot of it.
Thanks for the input, I'll start building my spreadsheet, checking my bank account, checking with the "we buy any car" guys to see what the current XJ will bring, and then go shopping. I did see, what I thought might be, an Italian Racing Red XJ. I never thought an XJ would look that good with a red paint job, but -- it would definitely be something that we could live with.
We shall see!

Its not a side by side or old to new comparison, but the information is there. Hope this helps.

Perfect, I downloaded the PDFs for 2013 (current vehicle), the 2016 & 2017. I've done a quick scan of the features and it looks to me like the 2016 would be my best bet. For what I can determine, the 2016 and the 2017 are nearly identical.
Now all I need do is to find one that isn't black, black and more black.
Thanks to all who contributed to my search. On a different note, it looks like the 2019 MY is the XJ's swan song. Given what's happening in China, with the virus, and the low sales numbers, it'll be sad to see that model disappear.

I looked at my dealer who has 3 locations all in Atlanta and saw some nice XJs if interested call them and only speak to Bill Sargent who works Monday through Thursday, he is the top sales person and handles his customers only as he has a lot of Land Rover clients. If you call tell him Robert Hirsch Said to speak to you. 470-539-8135
