Default How do you guys deal w the reflection?

Hello, new to the site and first time jag owner... loving the car so far but there are few things that drives me crazy so wanted to ask the members how they deal w this problem.. (or maybe its just me..)

1. Why did Jaguar make the center console so shinny?? chrome and reflective materials all over the place.... it blinds my eyes everytime the sun hits it at the right angle.... how do you guys deal w this problem?? or is it just me?

2. that small little pocket right behind the parking brake... what do you guys use it for? I have a samsung galaxy note phone so it doesn't fit... but even with that, that slot seems really small to use it for anything useful....

3. suede headliner?? was just wondering if this was stock w the car or an option... and how many did you guys get it?? or did XJ never have suede as an option and I'm just tripping *****..

4. backup cam.... is there any way to upgrade to better one? i really don't use the backup cam when I reverse park but man... the video quality sucks..

I love your picture.

1. It is occasionally irritating, but I wear polarised sunglasses when driving during the day which avoids all but the most extreme glare. Living in the UK though I get as much sun in one entire year as you probably get in a single morning.

2. I use it for parking change, but on a service loaner I found a packet of polo mints in it so it does have some uses. I stole the mints and returned the car with a packet of wine gums. I like to think that each time that car is loaned out a different treat is left behind for the next person.

3. There are three headliner options - alston suede cloth, leather and morzine cloth. The first is a synthetic suede originally developed for JLR that seems to be leather based (Alston Techno Suede). The leather option is leather, and morzine is I think JLRs name for the standard soft cloth finish.

4. The resolution on the camera is poor, but usable. It can be upgraded to a higher resolution camera but you will lose the visual indications (lines and parking sensor overlays). TBH I only ever use it when stationary as another rear view mirrror and use the door mirrors when actually moving.

Agree with xdave. Move to the UK ;-)

Seriously, I keep a cloth in the door pocket for the few times it's sunny over here. For the little storage block, must try the polo mints, but I do have remote control for my gates in there. Perfect size!

I don't have any issues with reflections off the center console. I bought my 2013 XJ CPO with aftermarket dark side and rear window tint, and I think that helps to minimize those reflections. You might want to tint yours if they haven't already been done.

I was initially concerned about night visibility with that tint, but to my surprise that isn't a problem at all.

The little pocket is the perfect size to take two of my vapes. Very useful.

The "pocket" is where the no cost option of lighter/ashtray would reside.
