How to Install Illuminated Door Sill Tread Plates
#21
This is what I found: Elegantly styled aluminum sill tread plates illuminate when the driver or passenger doors are opened. Highlighted by soft phosphor blue lighting. Suitable for LWB and SWB.
Price: $212.50
Price excludes installation costs and taxes. Please see your Retailer for details.

So I did call them and they do not think there is a difference other than they are listed only for 2014-2015. I did end up buying them from Gaudin Jaguar Las Vegas. About 187 each. Shipping was $50 to Florida and no tax. Don't look different from the ones Stuart posted as far as I can tell. They look nice and are easy to install. I only went with the 4 doors and will hold off on the trunk. There was a change in the model numbers in one of the rears (C2D48820 in stead of C2D30457) but the part was correct.
Thanks "drsn97um" for doing the homework...I found the parts a couple bucks cheaper ($178.50 front / $179.34 rear) at Jaguar Exeter in New Hampshire with $28.99 shipping to Indiana.

Part number beginning with C2D22 is Stainless Steel and C2D30 is Aluminum, this explains the price difference. The change to Aluminum may have been made late 2015 as the Aluminum Part numbers are listed at the updated sight for the 2016 Jag at the Jaguar Official Sight. When I purchased mine in Aug 2015 I believe the Stainless Steel part numbers were still being listed.
I wish I had known this earlier as I could have saved allot of money.

My car with the standard Premium Sound System had a sticker cost of $80,538. The same car as a 2016 that now has the Surround Sound and Remote Start as a standard feature and 4 Zone heating and cooling added to an optional feature cost $81,250. If I had added these features to my car the cost would have been $83,038 with out the Remote Start.
Sometimes I wish I had waited for the 2016 but for the price I purchased my car for I could not resist the good deal. I can live without those features that I do not have.
I think Jag made a smart move by cutting the cost as IMO the Jag today is a much better buy than yesterday.

Jaguar is boasting how some optional items are now standard and some new features have been added to the 2016, while keeping the cost of the car down, well now I can see one of the ways that they were able to accomplish this.

Remote start? Damn. That is one feature that I'd love to have especially with winter coming to the Midwest

A company out of Chicago called Midwest City Engeenering is able to install a remote start on the Jaguar that allows you to use your phone as well as as a key fob to start, lock and unlock your doors.
They work on a allot of high end cars and are very reputable. I contacted them and they quoted me a price of $1,600. Although I do not believe that it would be a real problem, my concern is if I ever needed another key fob or there was a problem with the remote start I would have to drive back to Chicago.
There is a law that protects your warranty if you have added something to your car but you never know what a dealership would do and how they might try to tie a issue with your car into something that you have added to the car.
The other concern is when I trade or sale the car the add on remote start could be a access or liability depending on how one looks at it.
With all this being said, I plan to talk with the dealership and see what they say.
What would really be nice is if now that a remote start will be on the 2016 if Jaguar offered an optional remote start that could be installed on previous year models like 2011-2015.
I may just wait until I trade but if I think I will stay in this car longer than 3 years adding the remote start could be still on the table. I had this feature on my last car and really like being able to lock my doors and start my car from the phone. When I felt that I may have left them unlock and the fact that I could do this even if I was in another state made it a whole lot nicer.
My brother in law has accidentally left his new Cadillac running on several occasions. On one occassion it was really bad as they were in Chicago and the car was at home in the Garage. When they got home many hours later the house was fogged and the car was still running they immediately got out of the house and called the fire department.
I am going to remind him that he needs to set up his phone app so if he is ever in doubt about wether or not the car has been shut off he can do it from the phone app.
One thing I like about the Jag is that there are several things too remind you that you have not shut off the car, one is when you look over and the transmission select dial has not retracted.
Oh, If you search 2012 Jaguar remote start on the web or You Tube there is a demonstration of a remote start installed by Midwest Engineering.
