Default How to turn off oil change service indicator?

How do I turn off the oil change service indicator on a 2013 XJ? I understand the published procedure that starts with holding the rear fog light switch only works on the XF. I talked to Autoenginuity to see if their scan tool would turn it off and they said it only works on the XF.

There must be some way, other than the dealer, to turn it off. How?

thanks

Your dealer should have given you the first year scheduled maintenance free, mine did. I talked to my service manager regarding that oil reminder,he informed me there is no mechanical procedure for 2013 XJ though he told me if you intend changing your own oil in the future I could reset it for you no charge.Although I all ways tip him.

Try this method and see how you get on?

You've gotta do it really quickly, hold down the reset button, key on, trip button on the end of the indicator stalk, and while holding it down press & hold the reset button. It brought up a message in German "Service cycle resetting" and after 10-15 seconds "Service Cycle Reset" and that was that.

Please report back to help others if you find it successful

Thanks

I don't think the above procedure will work - there is no clear/reset button on the x351

Go figure...

The only reasonable tool I've been able to identify that may help is the x431 Launch. I will keep you guys posted.

But Jaguar is covering my annual oil change up to 2016, so no rush.

Go the launch x431 from new egg. Device cost 99.99, you will have to pay another $66 to download the software needed to access your car.

It will reset the service light.

Let me know if anyone need further info.

My local Pep Boys Auto Center (NY USA) resets the "OIL CHANGE" reminder for free with their high tech computer diagnostic tool, 3 minutes. I tip the guy, they love seeing "The Big Jaguar XJL" come by. My Jaguar dealership wanted to charge me $80 to reset the oil indicator reminder.

Yes I am also looking for a reset tool.
Have you looked into the Autel HT200?

HT200

I found mine on EBay for $25. We have a thread going right now on how to use it.
I got the added Jaguar package and it clearly has a service reset button on the screen but so far all that does for me is throw me back into diagnostics.

I think I still need to learn some stuff as it really has a lot of capabilities and I can now see 32 different modules all throughout the car.

Yep, I bought an iCarsoft LR 2.0 a few weeks ago (I have had an iCarsoft i930 for years but it doesn't do resets etc like the LR 2.0 does) and used it to turn off / reset the "service required" message on the F-Type. For the last few months that message kept on popping up randomly on start-up for no good reason and it was mildly annoying.

I had something similar, had the oil changed at the dealer but would get the service required message too on startup a few months later. One day I checked the oil level which was very low. Added a quart of oil to top it off and the reminder went away.
