How to polish out small oil stain on black painting?
Hi
I got a small oil mark on my passenger door.
it seems the oil drop has somehow oxidized the paint surface and the shine is no more what it was at that place.
now I know the Jaguar paints are quite specific ones, so is there a special technique or a specific product to use if I want to polish that mark out?
FWIW, the paint is black, 2012 XJ.
Thanks,
Thierry

The paint on all modern cars is what is called "Clear-over-Base". The colour coat lies underneath a clear coat that give the shine. A normal paint polish should remove mark. Have a look for "polishing compound". Meguiars do some as part of their product range, but most auto stores should have something suitable. From your description, you need a fairly fine compound.

Thanks both, ok I’ll try it with this Meguiar’s wax.
it’s sold in France and on Amazon.fr...
but as the country is locked down due to Coronavirus, only essential shops are opened (food, etc) and we are asked also not to order online too much and only vital stuff so not to stress the delivery system and spread the virus via the delivery people...
Thus solving this little problem will have to wait I’m afraid...

I know this is too late to make an impact, but I always am amazed at what detailing clay bars can do. Spray water on the area then rub the clay bar over the region while its wet. It seems very mild relative to some other rubbing compounds I’ve used in the past. Makes car paint baby smooth again. I use 2X a year before waxing.

For this one I could solve the problem with polish I had and after that, as there was a slight veil, cleaning with microfiber.
Done.
