Default ignition switch

Hello,Has anyone removed the plastic housing holding the ignition switch in place?JTIS says remove front trim, insert appropriate tool and remove trim. The illustration looks like you would insert the tool through the front of the opening once the trim is removed.I'm not seeing anything that retains the housing.Thanks.

If you are referring to the start/stop engine push button, I’ve read the easiest and best approach is to wrap it with dental floss and pull it out. I just ordered a new one a couple days ago and that’s what I found.

It comes out really easy. I thought I'd need to get behind it to replace the switch, but not at all.
You just have to get anything (maybe even by fingers, if yours are small enough) to slip behind it, and it'll come right out from the front.
My wife's ignition switch magically broke through the front, so I ordered a replacement on Rock Auto & swapped it right out.
FYI- DID YOU KNOW... that the pulsing of the ignition switch light is timed to be at the same rate as the at-rest heartbeat of a Jaguar?
I never noticed the pulsing light until I put the replacement switch in.

The stuff I learn on here everyday. Heck I did not even notice that the start button light pulsates??

Sorry, but you're in the wrong forum then.

Even the tail lights of the XJs, the Jaguar claws scratched are very visible

I believe you’re looking for the

XJ (X358) (2007–2009)

forum. After 2009, it’s not referred to as an XJ8 and it’s the x351.

well, yeah... In the U.K. perspective 2009 = 2010. Jaguar is a British automobile, so often when you look at any reference to a certain model year (aka MY), you can expect it to be referring to the following model year. For example, what a British Jaguar owner considers their car is one year earlier than what an American Jaguar owner would.
Probably because any model year actually goes into production and hit the sales floors the year before. US "2010"s began production in 2009.
2009 UK = 2010 US.
You're in the wrong forum.

Scanner lists car as an x351. It is definitely a 2009. I will try the earlier forum.

It is hard to notice since the button is generally out of sight, obscured by the steering wheel.
I checked last night, and it pulses after the driver's door is opened but before the button is pushed/car is started. I guess to direct the driver's attention to the start button.
Regardless. it's pretty cool!
