Hi,
I bought a Jaguar XJL, 3.0d V6 2012 model. I am struggling to get the mic working. We located the mic on the left side of the steering wheel below the cluster. The fault code we are getting is B1D79-13 microphone input (permanent). When making a call I can hear the person, but they can't hear me. Any ideas what the issue might be? We were wondering if it might be a software related issue.

The driver microphone is located in the roof console. The console is only clipped in place with two clips at the rear end of the sides (about an inch back from the rear edge) and then hooked under the headlining along the front edge.
Unclip it and, remove the connectors from the roof harness so you can remove it intact, and check the mic is connected properly to the little connector on the back of the PCB. I would check the cable for any damage in case it was nicked against the plastic clips/guides.
To test if it is the mic or cable unplug it and see if you get an open circuit DTC logged in place of the place of the permanent input one. If it changes, replace the mic. For a 2012 it is C2D11408 (£35 UK retail).
