I guess the easiest way would be to upgrade your existing speakers to a higher trim level version. That would be purely a plug and play replacement; no modifications. You could take it step further and updgrade to the 825W amp and add more speakers. This requires some CCF programming. @Cambo has done this and can speak more in depth on the process. It’s definetly possible though. I’ve heard from several different sources that Dynomating your vehicle tremendously improves sound quality as well. Upgrading the speakers and Dynomat are probably the easiest. When you throw a new amp in there, things start to escalate a little.

@ ABrice Maybe your initial assumption was that the 200mm should fit may be correct as if you look at the signature specs they say a 200mm speaker is in the rear as well as the front. I guess we will know when you take off the rear door trim what is the actual case.

The difference is in the sound system. The B&W did in fact have a smaller rear door speaker. That's probably why Cambo mentioned it. The Meridian systems have a 200mm rear door speaker as shown below. Sorry for the confusion. Even if didnt they fit initially, I would've made them fit somehow. I got a pretty good deal on 4 brand new ones. http://www.supertweaks.com/
I paid $240 shipping included to the US from the UK.

I bit the bullet and purchased a set. A great deal, thanks. Where did you get the other speakers

Lol. No worries brother.
I went on ebay.uk to find the mids and tweeters. I purchased two LR033292 and two LR033293 for next to nothing. There's still a few out there. I found five B&W (black/yellow) coxials, C2D2079, brand new for less than $100. I probably won't use these though, as I'd rather have all Meridian Signature. I'm going to breakdown and buy five C2D24865 (black/red) coxials today. I have not been able to find these used. The cheapest place that I've seen these at is https://www.brit-car.co.uk Lastly, I was able to find a 1700W amplifier pulled from a 2014 L405 for about $640 on https://srotas24.co.uk This site has tons of JLR parts for really good prices with low shipping costs to the US! I really like this site. Overall, I tried to be resourceful and find various places to avoid paying dealer prices. There's probably some other good sites out there, but those are the ones that helped me piece everything together without breaking the bank.

Where did you find the speakers at on http://www.supertweaks.com/
I don't see any speakers listed?

If I have the Meridian system with the 165mm door speakers it looks like the 200mm versions can replace the 165mm version?
Or do I already have the 200mm in the back (2014 XJR) and just need to replace the 2 front ones like XJsss is doing?

Clubairth1 If and when I replace it will be all 4 200mm speakers. As for the UK link just do a search on "meridian" and the 4 pack will come up.

Hey Clubairth! Good hearing from you man. If you have a Meridian system, all doors will fit 200mm dimension speakers. The type of 200mm speakers that you currently have will depend on the level of audio system; base, premium, super premium. The B&W systems have 165mm rear door bass speakers. That caused a little confusion. In a Meridian system, four LR047119 or C2D24861 will fit all doors.

Here's the video that made the lightbulb go off for me to do this upgrade. From the video, you can see three different types of door speakers and the installation process. They are working on an L405 but the parts and the concept is the same.

Guys, the front doors are 200mm, the rear doors are 165mm, regardless of which system is installed.

I don't see how you're going to fit a 200mm in place of a 165mm, I have both here side by side.

Seems that the documentation from Meridian was a little simplified, not entirely accurate.

Ok, Cambo, so might you have the part number for the speaker for the Signature/reference system? It, also, appears the your picture is for of the BW speaker any chance there was a change when Jag went to Meridian?

There is a Meridian 165mm speaker. I can see listings for them on eBay. The listing that I saw was in a base sound system though. I’m wondering if that rear door speaker could be trim level dependent, i.e base sound system has a 165mm rear door speaker, premium has 200mm. I say this as the Meridian brochures clearly list the door speakers as 200mm.

ABrice that video did it for me too! Just a cheap and easy upgrade and where they got all those super premium speakers so cheap I don't know.
Thanks XJsss found them and just placed my order. Seems too cheap as well as cheap shipping? I guess it's the GBP to USD stuff?
Ordered 4 to replace all 4 doors as suggested.

There is only one version of inner door panel where the speaker is mounted, just SWB or LWB, so it will only take 165mm speakers.

There is a different part number for the rear door bass speaker in the Meridian Signature, I just found it hidden away in the parts catalogue now...

C2D24863 or EW93-18808-AA

The list price is actually cheaper than the Kevlar 165mm from the XF or XJ B&W systems, take that as you will.

How do you manage to prove the Meridian brochure wrong? Lol. From looking at the price, they are not grossly expensive. I should be able to find two at a reasonable price. I’m tempted to mod the door speaker fittings to make the 200mm’s fit. With delayed shipping times, I don’t want to wait on anymore parts. Also, the 200mm’s appear to significantly improve the bass quality. Thanks for digging into this as Meridian makes mention no of this speaker.

Thanks Cambo and you are right. I used a powerful flashlight to look behind the speaker grills and my 2014 XJR has black cones on the rear bass speaker in the door. No metal basket like the 200mm speakers have. I also checked that the front doors do have the metal basket style 200mm speakers.

As was pointed out your picture is the earlier B & W stuff the Meridian has black 165mm speakers in the back doors.

They look like this;

Now ABrice can we adapt the 200mm to the existing 165mm door panels?
I have found a pair of rear door cards from a 2011 with 200mm speakers in them but they want to sell the speakers with the door panels. Don't know if the early door card will swap over or not?
Guess I need to check the EPC?

It was too cheap so I have 4 of the 200mm speakers coming. Even with shipping from the UK I am at about $205 for all 4 speakers. That's a great price if I can figure out the install on the rear doors.

It's gonna be close, but I suppose that there is a way to make the 200mm's fit on the rear doors. It's not going to be a straight forward thing though. May have to trim some plastic, but I'm sure that I could solve for mounting door speakers. I prefer to use the 200mm's, but the 165mm speakers aren't priced too bad. The cheapest that I've found them at is https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.p...rom_vin_v58603

I'll defer to the 165mm's if some reason, I can't make the 200mm's fit. How were you able to find 200mm door cards? That makes everything more confusing. Lol. Where'd you find them?

Thanks for the reply ABrice! I have not received my 200mm speakers yet. Yes some mods will be required too!

I went back to my EBay watch list and found what I now think is a miss-labeled auction?
They list these for the rear doors but I don't see how they could be with what we know now?
Speaker

So I was wrong and no XJ has ever had 200mm speakers installed in the rear doors. Which is a bit odd as many RR's do have them.

Another thought? Install the upgraded 4 ohm 200mm speakers in the front doors and leave the stock 165mm in the rear and add a 2 ohm resistor to balance the load front and rear?

EDIT: I contacted the EBay seller directly and he claims that 200mm speaker came out of the rear door that he is also selling but looking at the door panel I just don't see how it would fit?
