Default Mid-model-year improvements in 2011 XJL?

I'm doing some preliminary research on the 2011 (U.S.) model XJL in preparation of buying one. It looks like they began manufacturing the 2011 model sometime mid-year 2009 and continued up until they switched to 2012 production sometime mid to late 2011.

With such a long production time period and also being the first year for a new body style I'm wondering what (if any) improvements and changes they made during the 2011 model year run and when they made them. I would prefer to avoid buying a problem like the plastic timing chain tensioners that plagued the earlier X308's and were eventually replaced by a metal version in later models.

Any information on changes/improvements along with corresponding manufacturing start dates or VIN numbers is greatly appreciated.

I love my 99 XJR but after 10 years and 100,000 miles (150K total on the car) I'm getting the itch for a newer one.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Most automobile manufacturers introduce improvements as they become available that reduce customer dissatisfaction, and especially warranty costs, but don't advertise the fact to the world, to avoid customers demanding their current year models get retrofitted as well. So I doubt the information you seek is available to the general public.

The X351 didn't go on sale in the US until spring of 2010. It went on sale in the UK a year earlier.

I originally tried to buy my XJL when it first went on sale but I walked away from the deal because of the attitude that my salesperson gave me. I waited 6 months and bought the car anyways from a different dealership.

And he owns an F-Type R Coupe 2015 too! Totally envious!
