The second cylinder on my driver side (3 I think) had a failure on one of the exhaust valves. Looking at it you can see it did some real damage. I don't think it can be repaired but thought I would get someone with more experience to chime in. Thanks

+1 on photos and details of what happened: overheating, lack of lubrication, foreign object in cylinder...

No overheating or anything like that just a strong acceleration to red Line and it popped at the top.

 

Form what I see, that isn't that bad. Probably need to lap that one valve, granted, with how far you are going to have the engine apart, I would spend a little extra and do a port/polish job to get a few more ponies out of the engine. You may end up having to do the port job on the valves just to fix that one, which will then require oversizing the other valves to match it so you don't have 1 cylinder making some extra power, creating other issues.

That picture is NOT an exhaust valve and does not look like a combustion camber in the head?
Have you removed the cams maybe?

It's a 12 xjl 5.0 supercharged. The cam is removed and it is on the exhaust side. This is a pick with the cap over the spring removed (it disintegrated). Tbe spring is out as will. This is from the top side of the head. Valve is bent and that's the only thing that stopped it from falling in the cylinder. I will take a pick with the cap removed from the other valve next to it.
What did you use to add the picture?

 

Use the special tools to hold the crankshaft in position and remove the cylinder head.

Once the cylinder head is removed, check if for warpage. If it's warped, it must be replaced.

 

The head is off already. Here are the links to my drop box to help clarify some things. Im more concerned with how chewed up the walls are and the hole at the bottom were the spring sits. Its the dark black spot at the bottom of the close up pic. I cant even get the valve out because its bent so bad. I am trying to straighten it so it can drop out.
