Thumbs down Nav Update

Any XJ's out there had to update their navigation datatbase lately? My 2012 is missing some vital info here in Florida (we are a growing state). I hope I don't need to go the dealership. Maybe something on the Web?? Many thanks in advance.

I solved the fuse box issue with you all's help...thx, again...all the best...

You can purchase nav update USB's + activation codes from Jaguar | Home | HERE . It looks to me like they have a 2016 version for a 2012 XJ. I can't comment if it is any better for your specific area.

I purchased the update several months ago. The changes for me were minimal but I did notice some changes.
It takes about 2 1/2 hours to run the update. I alternated between letting the car run and shutting the car off. You can just let the update run during normal driving. Whenever you shut the car off the update will continue when you start the car up and will do so until the update is completed.
Once you install the USB Stick do not remove it until the update is completed. Also note that when you install the update it will take up to 25 mins before you will see anything on the screen indicating that is running, you will see time remaining.
To see if the update was successful reinstall the USP. If successful you will get a message indicating the Nav has been updated.
You can also check for the Nav Version on the screen. Also note that the information you get will say 2016 map update but it may not tell you the version.
The version is V30-15-02

I updated mine a couple of years ago. However the Jaguar factory navigation still underperformed, so I ended up putting a Garmin GPS on my dash top. Same size screen, closer to my line if sight when driving, far more features and capabilities, and lifetime updates at no additional costs.

OK, how about installing 2016 unit ? I wonder what is needed and how much it costs, because it really looks good and is much quicker.

The 2015 Navigation Display Unit #C2D37734 list price is $6,050. See: NAVIGATION SYSTEM COMPONENTS for 2015 Jaguar XJ I expect the more advanced 2016 Navigation Display Unit would cost more than the 2015 unit. To install a 2016 Nav unit in an earlier model XJ would cost at least $6,050 plus the cost of any other necessary parts and labor, assuming you could make it work. That cost could easily exceed $8,000.

This is a Herculean task and a fool's errand. Save your money and put it towards the cost of a 2016 XJ ... unless you thrive on challenges, frustration, and throwing good money after bad.

Or buy a new Garmin GPS unit instead and save thousands!

Thank you for the parts list. Well, I once replaced whole interior for my 911. I like to upgrade things. But this is too costly. Better save money for the 2016 one as you said.
