Navigation White Screen & Locked Out of Car

Hi everyone! I'm actually posting on behalf of my father who has a 2012 XJ. He called me this morning telling me the following story:
Last night he and my mother took the car for dinner. They were at the restaurant for 2-2.5 hours and when my dad got in the car afterwards to leave he said the navigation screen was all white and the reverse camera never came on. I believe the stereo didn't work either. He did say the electronic dials did work (speedometer, etc.). When he got the car home the navigation screen was still white and he "played around with all the buttons" but to no avail. He decided to tackle the problem in the morning. Problem is out of habit he locked the car. Second problem is he believes the manual key (valet key?) is in the glove box. Fast forward to this morning and now the car is dead (the screen is no longer white) and he is locked out of his car. It is Sunday and the dealership is closed.
Any ideas on what the problem may be? Anyone else experienced this before? Any recommendations on how to proceed? Will he need to get the car towed or is there such a thing as a "master" key the dealership can bring to the house to let him in the car?
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Keith

In my March 2011 model the emergency key is inside the actual keyfob, you push a little piece of the black plastic on the side and it opens like a clam shell, the key is inside, you can then use it to manually unlock the drivers door, hope this may help you., sounds as if your battery may have died.
