Default New 2012 XJ SWB

All, I just placed an order for my brand new XJ SWB, Ebony, London tan with Jet Headliner and wood steering wheel (burl walnut), and illumination package. The dealer advised it would not be here until Feburary 2012. I can't believe it will take that long. He said the factory will email with updates as the car progresses through assembly. Anyway, i am very excited about the order and can't wait to get the vehicle.

Thats not too long a wait really,a friend of mine ordered an Audi A4 back in May, she got it after about 4 months, I had to wait 2 months for my XJL but the local dealer told me that they pre order a couple of cars to get them in " The system" , they then send the final required specification to Jaguar when a customer places an order.
I suppose if no one orders one then they send the order in for a demonstator.
It will be well worth the wait, I am so pleased with mine, they are still a rare sight over here in the UK so it does attrat a lot of attention and comments , it's great.

Congratulations, can't wait to see some pictures. I also have a few questions, maybe someone here could chime in:

1 - For new orders, has the roof problems been solved at the factory level?

2 - When the car is locked and the key is in your pocket, touching the driver's door handle unlocks that door only. If you touch the rear door handle, does it unlock all doors?

3 - For new orders, has the 3lb key fob been reduced in size and weight?

4 - If I remember correctly, 245 is the front tire size, 275 is the rear tire size. Can 255 and 285 tires be installed on the original 20" wheels?

Thanks!

I plan to track how long its takes. Anyway, the dealer advised that Jaguar will send me emails to advise of status of vehicle. that should be interesting if it actually works.

When my 2012 order was finalized on July 18, the factory order sheet showed a delivery date of November 1. To my surprise, the car actually arrived on Sept. 28. Hope it works that way for you too.

Well, i was just advised by the dealer that jaguar does not build the XJ in December, thus my vehicle has a build date of late January, 2012. Not expected to arrive until early March. Arrrgh. Even longer than I expected.

If you have wheel locks, the code indicates the key # for the lock. With this lock code #, you can order a replacement key from your dealer if you lose the original
