New to the Jag fam (tire size question)
Hello,
I have recently purchased a 2015 all wheel drive 3.0 V6 XJ. I noticed the front tires on the vehicle are 255 40 r19 but the manufacturer calls out 245 45 r19 for stock tires. From the information I have gained from this forum, I believe I have an electronic differential which would allow for a greater tolerance in the tire size. To be honest I'm new to the jag and all-wheel drive scene and just want to make sure I won't have any differential issues. The rear tires are spect out to be the same as stock 275 40 r19. I would appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

Ksanchez, having the wider tires on the front causes the front end to spin 2.6% faster than the rears. This is at the limit of what the system can handle going in a straight line. On a turn, this difference gets even worse. I cannot recommend keep running this combination. The possibility of damage to occur is what I would consider significant. I would recommend changing the front tires back to the stock size. This makes for a 0.0% difference between the front and rear.

To the "OP", did you purchase this XJ from an individual, or from a dealer? If from a dealer, I'd consider going back to them, and discuss having THEM replace the front tires, with the proper size, before any more damage can occur. Also, given that AWD systems can have issues with tire OD differences outside their design parameters, if the rears are fairly well worn, I'd consider replacing them, too.
And BTW, welcome to the world of Jaguars.....
